Those who are saying Tippa for Dunkley - we’d have to win every game for him to be effective - because he goes completely missing when the dons lose! (Check the stats), goalless in losses this year.
True, but it's not like he does nothing in those games. From just the 5 losing games this year; 36 tackles, 17 inside 50s, 3 goal assists. There's more to a player than just goals.

Small forwards stats are better in wins than losses!! Stop the presses!

No s**t tippa plays well when theyre up and about and struggles a bit when the teams struggling. How many of those wins were only wins because of his output?

I could see us chasing Stephen Coniglio with the extra cap room now
Hope we don’t. Cogs is a great player but another mid is more of a want than a need. The only way I want us to get another good midfielder is if we strike out during trade/free agency and a mid is the best available with our first pick.

Give me forwards of any kind and tall defenders.

Article in today's HUN linking us to Adam Tomlinson.

Though from reading it it looks like nothing more than speculation about how we've got money and he'd be a good fit.

We are going to get a lot of those they should throw this money at x player

And sadly with Boyd retired and Schache underperforming at present - the depth of analysis will stop at

“Player X is tall”.....

Now that everybody knows we have as much salary cap room as we desire (enough money to chase Wingard, Lever last two years and now Boyd's retirement), we're going to be linked to every godforsaken solid player in the competition that they think we should overpay for.

Well let’s not squander it on C-graders who just happen to be tall or fast. I’d rather go hard and get one elite player than a handful of fringe players who might just offer us a little something on a good day.

True it will be a pain. On the positive side it should mean that any player manager worth his salt will be on the phone letting us know if his client is genuinely gettable.

Brad Scott getting the turf could present some possible targets, as the new coach will no doubt want to get some draft picks in.

Robbie Tarrant - Brian Lake style deal? Probably the best fit, even if he would be 31. A 2yr deal could tempt him?
Mason Wood - Do they give up on him and move him on? Could be picked up cheapish and replace Dickson/Lloyd/Gowers?

Always thought Mason Wood could be a genuine gun elsewhere. Dude somehow hasn't even hit 50 games yet. Would surely be gettable at a cheap cost if the club sees potential

You missed the following, 45 disposals in those 5 games (average per game 9), 0 goals (average for those 5 games 0), 0 behinds (average for those 5 games 0), the true definition of a down hill skiier that makes our last small forward Dahlhaus look like a 100 goal a season forward

Yes. Don't do what North did and have Gaff money, not get Gaff, get Polec and think "this is good enough" and pay 80% of the money for 60% of the player.

Tarrant would be a good short term fit.
No Thanks on Wood another guy that promises a lot but doesn't deliver. We already have one of the of those in Schache :'(

If we end up with Wood or Tarrant then god help us. If that is the calibre of player we are chasing then let’s just forget it and hand the money to charity.

You don't rate Robbie Tarrant?

Tarrant is old, 31 in April next season. If your team is too young you even it out with players in the mid to late 20's range. If you're planning on building a long term team and you're not in premiership contention, you target players in the mid 20's range max. The only time you target a 31 year old is if you're deep in a premiership window, getting knocked off in preliminary finals, need another defender and believe you can push a grand final over the next two years. Targeting a 31 year old makes zero sense for us, regardless how good a player is, even if we a short a tall defender or two. All it does is hog a list spot, or slows the development of a future player, for a guy who will retire in a year or two and id past his peak athletic ability. He is just to old that's all.
