Squiggle tips Demons at 77% chance -- What's your tip? -- Team line-ups »

Maybe Wells opens up another spot too?
We have until midday on Monday to decide whether or not we will make a list spot available and participate in the draft.Think it be too late to do that?
Last night showed we need to bring in a back up for Moore, I don’t think we will use our pick though.
Giving senior team best chance of winning a flag > VFL balanceI'm on the fence on this. We already have too many key defenders in the VFL. Albeit mostly developing types (Kelly, Keane, Madgen). It would throw out list balance to get another. But our back ups are poor. My inclination would be to shift Goldsack back and utilise him in his best role. Play Madgen as a third tall. Find another role for one of Keane or Kelly. Shaz will be back at some point too. But it'd be nice to have some assurance over the quality of our key back depth. Its hurting us right now.
I think every state league KPD is better than Madgen ,should never ever ever ever play Afl again for us.Surely there's a state league KPD out there that would be a better option than Madgen.
With Injuries to Kelly and Wells might mean we might have a Few Picks
Have to be out for the remainder of the year don't they?
Didn't they just upgrade a player to take Dunn's spot? Magden? Maybe look to rookie someone?Okay at this stage we will have a selection at the mid season draft tomorrow night ( I am assuming for Lynden Dunn) and possibly a second depending on the outcome of Well’s meeting with the surgeon today. Any thoughts?
We should also know the extent of Kelly's hamstring by Monday too. Hopefully it's just a "standard" hamstring injury, but it looked bad.Okay at this stage we will have a selection at the mid season draft tomorrow night ( I am assuming for Lynden Dunn) and possibly a second depending on the outcome of Well’s meeting with the surgeon today. Yep, Madgen was upgraded from a category B rookie to replace Dunn.Didn't they just upgrade a player to take Dunn's spot? Magden? Maybe look to rookie someone?
We’re on the list as having a pick for tomorrow night with pick 15 according to the Herald Sun’s article posted this morning. https://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/...k/news-story/97db63914d83067225dfe5c8e37c6ce8Didn't they just upgrade a player to take Dunn's spot? we only have to keep a player taken in the mid season draft til the end of the year.

So we can take a big KPD knowing that it provides immediate depth and won't detract from developing other players long term.
The Irish boys may develop into something, but Magden is fully developed and all that he will ever be - a VFL level defender.
That seems a very bizarre situation; what a rigmarole. There is also Collingwood's situation, where it applied for Lynden Dunn to go on the long-term injury list and promoted Category B rookie Jack Madgen, who played on Friday night.
The Magpies could demote Madgen again then move Dunn onto the inactive list to create a list vacancy and enable them to make a selection on Monday.
As things stand, we shouldn't have a pick available in this draft, and would only be able to participate in it if we did some last minute shuffling around of a couple of players to free up a spot. I think there's a very good chance that we won't bother. Taking a player just for the sake of it, and handing them a minimum $50K (plus another $20K if delisted at the end of the year and not picked up by another club) seems rather extravagant (if we really do have a tight salary cap).we only have to keep a player taken in the mid season draft til the end of the year.

It does seem like a fair bit of stuffing around, and (assuming that story is correct) I really doubt that we would bother to make those moves just so we could take part in the draft. Perhaps something might happen with Kelly/Wells in the next few hours and plans will change, but I hope there's no really bad news with them. That seems a very bizarre situation; what a rigmarole.
