Multiplat Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019 reboot) - including Warzone

A new COD title is released every year, and yes it was leaked a few days ago that it's not going to be called MW4 as everyone had anticipated, but just "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare" which is going to be confusing AF and makes no sense. Because this one is a soft reboot, people are going to get it confused with Modern Warfare Remastered when talking about it. Maybe people will just refer to the game as "Modern Warfare 2019" to avoid confusion whenever they mention it.

The best thing about WW2 was the "war" game mode. If they bring that back, I'll be in. otherwise I'll stick to the original MW.
I doubt they'll have a war mode. That was a SHG thing. It will be interesting to see what they do in regards to Blackout, though. You'd think that would be something they'd want to continue, but whether they split the current mode out from BO4 and package it separately or introduce a new iteration in this version remains to be seen. Hoping for a campaign and a more traditional MP in the vein of MW and MW2, rather than the specialist-ridden nonsense we've had in BO4.

It's a modern warfare game so it's not going to have specialists. It's going to be old school boots-on-the-ground COD just like the other MW games. No specialists, no wall running or sliding. And it's going to have a lot of the guns, maps, and killstreaks from the previous MW games. A leak has suggested that the game is going to have a "free to play" element which some have speculated will be a battle royale mode like blackout. Anyway the trailer is supposed to be coming out today, so we'll know for sure soon enough.

The official reveal is happening on May 30 at 10AM Pacific Time, which is 15 hours from now.

There's a rumour on twitter that it's going to have a co-op mode with dinosaurs in it. Probably BS but damn I wish it were true.

Haha my bad guys it's now 9:40am pacific time...reveal is in 20 minutes. Watching the reveal live on youtube.

The reveal trailer only showed footage from the campaign.

Other info revealed:

-no season pass (maps and other DLC content will be free)
-the game will support cross play between PS4, Xbox One, and PC
-available on October 25

I've been watching COD youtubers who were invited by Infinity Ward to attend an official preview for the game. These people saw a presentation in which the first couple levels of the campaign were played through.

The feedback from those youtubers is that this game is the most realistic and most violent COD game ever. The themes in the game are confronting and disturbing. Drift0r said on his channel that he doesn't know how the game is going to be released in its current state because it's so violent and will probably be banned in some countries including australia.

Honestly the crossplay and the new game engine is the best COD news that people have had in years. This will surely breathe new life into the franchise.

Crossplay between consoles is a good idea. Between consoles and PC, not so much. If we're talking MP, PC players with a mouse and KB will have a huge advantage over console players with a controller. It would still be fine for co-op campaign missions or zombies, but I really hope they're not planning on having PC players competing with console players. The systems are just too different for the playing field to be even.

Not having a season pass with free post-launch content is good; however, I suspect this means they'll ramp up the aggressiveness of their push for mtx. Sales for BO4's season pass were apparently poor, and so I imagine they felt it unnecessary to keep it around, while providing the maps for free will maintain longer-term player engagement. This will provide more opportunities for them to shove mtx in people's faces, a somewhat concerning prospect given that IW had stat-changed variants of a guns that could be purchased, creating a true pay-to-win aspect. Players won't be happy if that returns again.

Fortnite says hello.

I don't play Fortnite so don't know how it works there.
Pretty much what you explained. Pros that use controllers are on the same level as people that use keyboard (there are some exceptions of course)

That's exactly what my initial reaction was, but some people say otherwise. Apparently with some guns it's actually advantageous to use a controller, and the aim assist on console levels the playing field with mouse & keyboard players. I've never played COD on PC so I can't verify any of this, but what this guy says @ 4:07 - 5:12 is interesting:

Listening to Driftor talk about the campaign. It sounds kind of enthralling and a shift away from how CoD campaigns are usually done. It is interesting that they're going for realistic depictions of war in both the Middle East and areas of the Western world, even so far as portraying attacks committed by Muslim extremists, in the current climate. With them having moved away from modern warfare for much of the last decade and instead focusing on futuristic combat or historic conflicts, they haven't had to worry too much about how close their content resembles real life and the potential controversy of backlash that could arise as a result of not giving sensitive subjects the respect they reserve, hitting too close to home, being perceived as taking a stance on real conflicts, etc. I just hope we can see it in Australia. I can't imagine New Zealand being too receptive to it.

The gameplay of the campaign does seem exciting, though, because, from listening to Driftor talk aboit it, it won't be a cookiecutter sort of CoD game where you run from point A to point B and shoot a bunch of generic soldiers until you run to point C.

Can you explain then where I've gone wrong.

There's so many places. If you use KB&M on console, you get placed into lobbies with only other KB&M players.

Default cross platform keeps you within your tier as well. So if you party with someone on PC, it will always be in PC lobbies, if you party on console, it will always be console lobbies and Switch and Mobile get their own lobbies together. If you play with someone in a higher tier, you always play at the higher tier, so no PC players in console lobbies and as stated all KB&M players are separated, even on console.

The only time console and PC can mix is in ranked Arena mode and well, that's kind of the point, playing with the best and that made is still skill based matchmaking. But there are no PC players on console Fortnite, in any of the main core modes.

So yeah, Fortnite is the worst possible example.

Okay the latest rumour circulating online (this hasn't been confirmed) is that if you're playing the game on PC and you want to crossplay with console players, you have to have a controller plugged into your PC or it won't let you join lobbies with console players.

As a PC player who has seen the player pool of recent COD games restrict you to TDM after say the 6 week mark I welcome not only crossplay but also no maps in season passes.

Keep the player base united and I’ll be able to enjoy many game modes at will, like PS4 players can even with old games still.
