Bring Bolton straight back in.
What’s the go with RCD??
He has starred in 2 games of the 3 he has played for the VFL team. A natural small forward, who could easily get picked up in the ND.Luke Nelson...5 goals (maybe 4?)
Only his 2nd game for us....nice
Stocker was gone, SOS gave up pick 1 for him.Should've taken Stocker instead of RCD. Looks like a bust already.
Can’t make calls on players first year vfl , naish would have rarely topped dozen posies until late season he began racking them up , same with BoltonSaid this from the moment i saw him in the vfl, as harsh as it is, RCD is no good ... a mid who cant find the footy .... bust ... they'll persevere (as they should), prob end up trying him as a half forward, but ultimately he'll be a bust i reckon ... that said, drafting is a numbers game, so win slme lose dome ... ross and stack look to be big wins
Turner looks to be an inspired pick up , a call up soon wouldn’t surprise , not sure both he and naish play together though , very good sign to be avg > 20p first 9 games at vfl , especially so being youngest player in draft poolFull time

Egg-Smith 16 disposals (11 kicks 5 handballs) 9 marks 3 tackles
Chol 15 disposals (11 kicks 4 handballs) 3 marks 6 tackles 22 hitouts 2.0
Menadue 15 disposals (8 kicks 7 handballs) 6 marks 3 tackles
Aarts 13 disposals (10 kicks 3 handballs) 4 marks 3 tackles 1.2
Markov 13 disposals (12 kicks 1 handball) 6 marks 3 tackles
RCD 8 disposals (5 kicks 3 handballs) 3 marks 2 tackles
No CCJ suggests he might be playing on Thursday. Bolton putting his hand up for an immediate recall and given Rioli performance last week earned a recall you'd think he'd be a chance. Please Chol rebounded after a poor showing last week, if he can just get some consistency in his performances. Weller set the tone early on and not sure but appears he may have been rested in the last quarter in case he is recalled for Thursday as well. Turner looks to have taken Naishs spot in the queue knocking on the door for a game. Broad looks to have had a solid game as well whether he gets recalled or not will be interesting.
RCD was never going to be a 2019 proposition for AFL games as he was always going to spend the year at VFL level developing as an all round midfielder. If people read the weekly reports on the VFL they nearly always say the same thing, Riley was an inside bull for the side just needs to keep working on his outside game. Learning when and where to run to get those easy touches will come as his endurance improves and that is much easier to improve than teaching someone how to win contested footy/clearances. Those that are calling him a bust already could well end up embarrassed down the trackRCDs VFL career so far is pretty much a carbon copy of his junior stuff.
He appealed because of his enormous upside but if you read his pre-draft appraisals they all mention his lack of productivity ( ie low possession rate) and his low endurance base. Which is why with all these attributes he was still available at pick 20
Will be a patience game with this kid
Agree. Way to early to call him a bust. He needs to develop his tank and that only happens in the off season. Fans become impatient, they see Stack and Ross in their first year , stepping up to AFL level with ease. A fourth round selection in Turner racking them up at VFL level and we expect every pick to be progressing at the same rate. But it doesn’t work that way unfortunately.RCD was never going to be a 2019 proposition for AFL games as he was always going to spend the year at VFL level developing as an all round midfielder. Every other kid we picked this year is ahead of RCD.
What's his excuse?

Riley Collier-Dawkins v North
16 disposals, five tackles, three centre clearances & five clearances
“Was a bull inside and extracted the ball on numerous occasions, but just couldn’t get much outside ball, so he’ll be working on complementing his game in that manner.”
Riley Collier-Dawkins v Essendon
13 disposals, four tackles & three clearances
“He came back after being a carry-over (player) last week and played as an inside ‘mid’, good around the contest, eight contested possessions of his 13 (disposals), three clearances. We just need to get him to spread to the outside to get involved in that part of the game.”
Riley Collier-Dawkins v Frankston
19 disposals, nine handball receives, four tackles & five inside-50s
“Learning every week, while playing consistent footy.”
Riley Collier-Dawkins v Williamstown
18 disposals, seven clearances & three tackles
“Improves every week. His defence is really standing out. Big-bodied, seven clearances led the team, and played a really important role in our defensive structure.”
Riley Collier-Dawkins v Casey
18 disposals, 15 contested possessions, seven tackles & four clearances
“Looks a real promising player for us. A big, strong inside midfielder. A lot of handballs on the day - 18 disposals on the day, 12 of those handballs - high tackle numbers again with seven. His ability to break the game open in the third quarter was critical to the outcome. He’s playing some great footy.”
Riley Collier-Dawkins v Port
18 disposals, 11 contested possessions, five clearances & six handball receives
“A strong body, he started the game really well. His 18 disposals, 11 contested, were a feature, as well as five clearances. It was really pleasing to see him play to his strengths.”
Riley Collier-Dawkins v Geelong round 1
11 disposals, three handball receives, one clearance.
“We tried Riley at half-back for the first half and he did okay. He learnt a few lessons in positioning which will be good for his development and then he went on-ball in the second half.”

Here are the comments about his games this year:
As you can see Riley is predominately playing as an inside midfielder who role is to win the clearance and get the ball out to guys like Turner Naish on the outside who can then run and carry. The other constant in the comments is that he needs to develop that outside game to get the easy cheap possessions that turn 18-19 disposals into 25-30 disposal games. That will come as the kid develops his tank, which he is doing playing midfield for full games every week. Very rarely does he spend any time down forward, it's on ball or resting on the bench. If he is still battling away in the VFL yet to debut in 12 months time then it would be fair to query if he is going to be a bust, but for now just let him continue to develop his game and be patient, not everyone rolls up to an AFL club ready to go.
RCD has been solid averaging about 15-18 possessions as an inside player. Has a quiet week and the sky is falling.
