Do good gamblers exist?

The house always wins my friend.
lol, yes.

But the big players are data scientists/computer science specialists. It's all based on algorithms & volume from a turnover perspective. Find an edge, and exploit it.

The reason prices move, ever, isn't weight of money. Its who's betting.

I get that but all the algorithms in the world won’t help you if you have a cheat like Weir involved as an example.

That’s not really correct actually.
Any cheat doesn’t stop designated betting by all known form.
You’re still playing the odds not in your favour.
All you can do is bet to “attempt” to put odds more in your favour.

It’s all about the maths.

House always wins.......even with good poker players.
House wins regardless with poker players. The rake is the rake.

The house when it comes to poker is like the tote or Betfair, they just invite action and take their percentage, they don’t care if you win or lose.

The big players have fixed the result so they never lose.

It's different strokes for different folks. Players have the discretion to access whichever provider they like whether they're AFLPA approved/endorsed or not. If Beames is such a marvel then players will go to her but the reality is she won't be everyone's panacea.

I have no idea what the harm is. There may be none. I don’t think that’s the point though.
I’m trying to get my head around the thought process that would lead a counsellor to reveal that two of her patients have each lost a million dollars and that one is from a VIC club and one is from an interstate club. Tbh, I don’t believe that article as written. I think it’s self-serving on most levels by those involved.

IMO, it’s a misguided attempt to raise industry awareness around the issue. I don’t believe it’s anywhere near as serious an issue as illicit drug use, but something needs to be done.

And if you are a decent gambler the betting agencies ban you anyway. My mate at work has been blacklisted by 3 agencies because he wins too much off them....

This is not common practice.

Most corporate bookmakers will not ban you, however they will quickly exclude you from promotions, and they will limit your maximum bet to a size that makes your continued patronage a futile exercise. However they can then lay claim to “not banning winning punters”.

There are plenty of professional gamblers who make money.

For an average punter though it's quite hard.

As a young fella, a certain big gambler, who may have also ended up a VP of Collingwood, told me, “Just remember, there’s winning days and losing years”.

Okay, but there are still plenty of people who make a career off gambling. Obviously in the minority, but pretending that professional poker players and sports betters dont exist doesn't achieve anything.
