Yeah but it’s only June. Need to perform in finals. I will say, last night reminded me of the tigers of old, we at least cats games vs tigers of old 😂

Of course we need to perform in finals.

But if we can’t enjoy the last 12 weeks of football, what’s even the point in following it?

I've never even seen an attempt at a credible answer to this question from the 'ABS Crew' since Chris took over from the players in 2012.

For me, footy games (let alone premierships) are way too difficult to win to not enjoy every single victory you can put together along the way.

Which means I am enjoying this season immensely right now. And I am not going to let the possibility of surrender in September detract from the enjoyment of what this team is putting together at the moment.

For what it's worth, it appears to me that the players (and the coaches) are doing the same.

Well put, I don't believe anyone that says a flag or bust. You can enjoy footy week to week, we went 44 years without a flag and I still loved watching the Cats play each week.

I lived almost 36 of those 44 years. And I would still say that the gift my Dad gave me in introducing me to the rich experience of following the Cats (with all its triumph and tragedy) is still one of the greatest blessings of my life. Almost irrespective of premierships won and lost along the way.

In the end, the jubilation of victory means so little without the reality of persistence through the pain.

Here’s an argument for the lid...

Of the 11 teams to be 8-1 or better in the past decade, only 4 have gone on to win the flag. A further two have made the grand final. So only just better than even chance of making the GF from here, based on history.

2018 – West Coast (8-1) – 1st

2016 – North Melbourne (9-0) – lost EF

2015 – Fremantle (9-0) – lost PF

2013 – Hawthorn (8-1) – 1st

2013 – Geelong (8-1) – lost PF

2012 – West Coast (8-1) – lost SF

2012 – Essendon (8-1) – DQ

2011 – Geelong (9-0) – 1st

2011 – Collingwood (8-1) – lost GF

2009 – St Kilda (9-0) – lost GF

2009 – Geelong (9-0) – 1st
What about this argument?

Geelong are now 11-1 for the season with a percentage of 151.3. This is the 7th best start to a season through 12 games in AFL history. (1990—>)

1991, West Coast were 12-0, 195.1%
2009, St Kilda were 12-0, 173.6%
2000, Essendon were 12-0, 160.6%
2009, Geelong were 12-0, 150.8%
2011, Geelong were 12-0, 142.9%
2011, Collingwood were 11-1, 170.2%
**2019, Geelong are 11-1, 151.3%**

Every one of those teams made the grand final.

-----
For some additional info, after Geelong's win:

- 5 teams in history have started 12-0,
- 8 teams in history have started 11-1,
- 14 teams in history have started 10-2.

I've upgraded my membership to premiership membership, I can't see us losing the grand final should we happen to make it either, as there are players and staff at the club who still remember 2008 all too well.

I'm very conscious of the fact we have had a good run injury wise whereas other contenders have not. I rate Collingwood. One contender who at near full strength has the most talented list going around in my view.

Heard a stat during the week which showed the team finishing on top rarely takes the choccies. Lid on and shush.;)

You might be mistaking my joking about melting with actual melting?

one of if the most solid state melters out there.

Its a particle reference people...!!

As for the lid - still on well and good but enjoying the ride immensely and the pressure to remove it is increasing. About WK 16 or so and there will crisis level pressure and like any good can in the freezer or resident of Hollywood and Vine,.... she's gonna blow.

The lid's getting a little shakey for me now
It's ok for now, I applied a few rivets and some duct tape yesterday. Should hold it til after the Port game
