All these examples are for teams being held at one end, scoring at the other. Geelong's burst was in the 2nd & 3rd quarters. Is it the biggest win by a team that lost two quarters at different ends of the field? (i.e. 1&2,1&4,2&3 or 3&4)
I think that's the game SOS was moved to full forward at half time and kicked a lazy 9 second half goals! Not bad for the full back of the century.

SOS kicked 10 that day. I was there. Was a classical Carlton 3rd quarter turn around.

There was another one of those classical 3rd qtr comebacks at Princess Park unfortunately - Carl v Geel 1990 - Cats were at least 6 goals up at half time - and should have been 12 goals up . Silvagni went to full forward in the 3rd qtr ( i can remember he kicked a bannana goal from the pocket) - and their supporters went nuts - and the rest is history . Cats didnt give much at the end

Yesterday saw an unusual situation in the North Melbourne vs. GWS match, where the Kangaroos were coached by Rhys Shaw and playing for the Giants was his brother Heath Shaw.

There are a numerous examples of cases of brothers and cousins in opposing teams, and some cases of brothers coaching against each other (Chris and Brad Scott, Norm and Len Smith) but I cannot recall a match where the brother of a coach was playing for an opposing team. I also can't recall a father coaching a team where the opposition team contained his son, or an uncle/nephew in the same situation.

Does anyone know of other examples like the game with the Shaw brothers yesterday?

These are random checks as examples, so not final answers yet,

A) - Tim Watson had 36 in match v Footscray in 1980
https://afltables.com/afl/stats/games/1980/050719800517.html

B) - Watson began the 1980 season as an 18-y-o and was pretty consistent finishing with total of 536 for the year

A) - Robert Harvey had 37 disposals in match v Carlton in 1990

There's a (rather small) thread on the topic (brother coaching vs. brother playing) on the Footy History board, and a few names have been thrown up, mostly from long ago. Jade and Brady Rawlings is one example from recent times.

https://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/coaching-against-a-brother.1219400/

Edit: Here's an example of a father coaching against a son (Bob Rose/Robert Rose): https://afltables.com/afl/stats/games/1972/040719720520.html

Albert Pannam (uncle) coached Richmond against Collingwood with Lou and Ron Richards (nephews) in their side: https://afltables.com/afl/stats/games/1953/041419530530.html

There should be a few more examples of this happening.

Something that made me think of a stat with that rare win by the Dogs vs the Pies at Victoria Park in 1972, i did read and it's shown to be in Rd 7 that season too...the Dogs beat Geelong at Kardinia Park, a venue where Ted Whitten only managed a draw in 1957 as the only points he took away from a Geelong home game.

Would that year have been about the only year the Dogs would have won both at K.P and Victoria Park in the same year?

In the 1983 VFL season handbook which i have hiding away somewhere, the Dogs had only 23 wins against the Pies to that stage, so i am sure wins at Victoria Park were as rare as hens teeth!

One of four years! - 1944, 1945, 1972 and 1985 (VPx2). The Bulldogs have 13 wins at Kardinia Park and managed 10 at Victoria Park:

On AFL Tables, you can see how teams were placed at various stages (over the years) in head to head clashes. e.g. Western Bulldogs vs. Collingwood: https://afltables.com/afl/teams/bullldogs_idx.html (All Games - By Opponent) https://afltables.com/afl/teams/bullldogs/allgames_tm.html (Collingwood) https://afltables.com/afl/teams/bullldogs/allgames_tm.html#4

Then scroll down to the 1983 games, and you can see that after the Victoria Park clash that year the Bulldogs had an overall record of 23-0-77 against Collingwood.

Talking about Victoria Park - i wouldnt mind you putting up the 1st 34 years of games at that Venue between Coll v Haw - because i know it took Haw 35 long years to win at Victoria park - and you would think there would be some right royal thrashings in those 34 years - which from a Geelong supporter point of view would be very pleasant reading

My friend had a observation that 103-100 seems like a regular occurrence. Is there any basis to that?

If not what is rhe most common final score/final margin?

(This could be an either incredibly easy question or impossibly hard one)

103 - 100 has happened a few times, but what about 80 - 79 that has occurred thirteen times !!

Curious as to how you achieved this formatting. Haven't posted a table in a while, and it seems the old rules no longer apply.

I hope this covers what you need to know. I am presuming you know the "Insert table" icon along the top.

Sorry this screen shot image is a blurry, but basically the table icon looks the same as the one in any Word Document page.
When you want to insert a table you in Big Footy can only choose a 10 x 10 table. So if you want to add a row, click in the last cell of the row where you want to make the insertion. You will then see five icons. Choose icon number three.

Reply2.PNG

To insert an extra column, which I have not yet tried, click in a cell within the column where you want the next column to appear. You will see another five icons, and you need to choose the fourth icon along.

Reply3.PNG

If you like the look of bold headings at the top of each column, simply highlight each word, one by one, and click on the capital B icon at the top, or use "Control B" on your keyboard.

These are the only things I have done when inserting a table. Sorry that my screen shots are blurry. Let me know if you think I can give you extra info.

Just came here to post this as an observation. There are two irons in the fire this season with respect to the possibility of equalling the record of result + margin.

That is unwieldy to say the least, and not workable for me on most occasions. I'm not going to hand-enter the data in large tables.

But thanks very much for the explanation.

Unfortunately the previous Big Footy table formatting no longer comes out as a table when you post it. I had some examples of the previous table formatting saved in OneNote. I have tried posting some tables using that formatting and it no longer configures.
