He got soundly beaten by an impressive Kennedy. All defenders have their bad days. Silvagni would get shat on regularly and made heaps of mistakes. Rance has been embarrassed many times in the past few years. But Kennedy was just too good. Hooker may have been a better matchup.

lol. All Australian. He's been pretty average all year apart from about 2-3 games. If that qualifies as AA then **** me.

We ALREADY are in a world of trouble with him in the side apparently playing AA football. The comedy keeps on giving. If you want to see our defence fall apart just move Hooker out of there and watch how everyone is all at sea when the high ball comes in.

Do people really think he's been playing AA football. Whats next? Zaharakis to make the squad of 40? Langford as a potential high half forward. According to Dodo.. McNeice has been playing really well so is he a sneaky chance for back pocket?

Who cares about AA. Whether he is good enough this year or not doesn’t matter. It has little credibility.

By the way, I get your frustration. You’re frustrated because you know how good he could be but he lets himself down with poor kicks and low desperation at the goal line.

I'd trade him and give Francis his role. Time to roll the dice there. Need to make a play for Cameron or another big forward. Someone who can play and compete every week. Smack is too inconsistent and who knows with Joe.

Our cap isn't an issue, we don't have any players close to a mill
I would disagree with cap not being an issue. We may not have any players on a mill but I'd be willing to bet that Hurley, Hooker, Heppell, Shiel would all be on 700k+. We'd be pushing the cap right now IMO.

He's a very good player. We are just so inconsistent, including him. Francis needs a spot and we clearly need to improve further up the feild. You'd have to consider the right deal. I'd happily swap for Jack Martin.

People seem to forget that Francis is competing against one of the better ball users from a KPD in the comp. Hurley isn't done with yet therefore Aaron is going to have to bide his time or get fit af and try to turn into an interceptor/ 3rd tall to which he would still be behind quite a few.

Hurley can be a bit slow releasing the ball esp when going for the long bombs. Too high ball drop allows defenders to smother too easily plus affects accuracy.

Other than that pretty good season bar Friday, though lack of midfield pressure allowed WC to pinpoint Kennedy. No defender could have stopped that.

Absolutely agree Francis is still behind Hurley. I'm just thinking about in 2-3 years when we might be a chance for a flag. I'd rather Francis take his spot next year. Hurleys trade value is now and we would cope still having Hooker, Ambrose and Zerk coming through. It's not a knock on Hurley just think he would get value and balance our list better.

Or we could just continue on the same path. Personally I think something needs to change.

To be fair to Hurley kelvin_sheedy, even Stephen Silvagni would have had trouble with some of the delivery that came in on Friday night. The service was great from a side that should be competing in last fortnight of the year.

Doesn't change the fact that he's had another moment where he should have touched it through for a point and was too slow a few times to get it on boot.

He's a good player, not a great player. He's being paid as a superstar and has a reputation that exceeds actual output. He does not have a standout attribute and he gets by on his competitiveness and experience. Not a great overhead mark, inconsistent defending key forwards and not a great kick and too slow to move it forward.

We already have a dour battler in Ambrose whose good at locking down key forwards. Hooker who is a great intercept mark and getting paid a huge amount also.

We somehow need to get games into BZT, Francis, Ridley. We've got Mitch Brown as a break glass in case of emergency type of guy on pretty much minimum coin. Our backline is not reliant on him to be effective. Hooker and Ambrose are the two keys at this stage.

The state of our list requires us to make some bold moves. Richmond would never have won a flag without losing Deledio and getting Prestia, Caddy, Nankervis. He was their best player at the time and they were a much better side when he left because they got more quality in.

We are too investing our players.... Hurley, Lucas, Stanton, etc, etc. All probably gone past their used by date at the club but kept on too long. Geelong is a great example. Bye bye, Chappy, Kelly, Enright, SJ, etc, etc and guess what, the rebuild is now complete again and challenging for flag.

Meanwhile at Essendon....

Ah Cats would be nowhere without their 30 plus players ie Selwood, Hawkins, Ablett, Taylor and Dangerfield who’s a year older than Hurley. Yet you think 28 yo Hurley has gone past his use by date. Are you taking the piss?
