Smith Popyrin and Kubler are also in the 2nd round of qualifying now.Polmans just followed Duckworth and Harris into Qs R2.
Now Santillan.
Kubler is playing well but Donskey is a big obstacle.8 out of 8 Aussie male winning their first qualies round. Still would be surprised if any qualify but impressive...
Sabine won the first set 6-0, but then lost in 3, 0-6, 6-4, 6-4 to Lesley Kerkhove, ranked of 200 odd and who will be playing their 2nd grand slam ever at 27 years old. Yes, I have never heard of her either.Sabine Lisicki is also through to the final round of qualies.

She does have doubles to fall back on. So it's not all doom and gloom.Babos herself was just 1 set away from clinching a WC to Wimbledon via Ilkley ITF tournament. Now she has nothing.
https://www.news.com.au/sport/tenni...y/news-story/7ba7cc1a7898a13dd7ca15d6c0e18d47 tough life at the top for John. Spare a thought for qualifiers and lesser ranked players that think a first round payday is Christmas come early
At the very top the money is phenomenonal. But it drops away so quickly.I think he makes a lot of valid points. Most people have no idea how expensive it is to be a professional tennis player, they just see the prize money and think 'wow '. The money you earn/win is not all yours to keep.
With a potential R2 match against Nadal waiting I think Nick might actually put in for onceAsh's draw as tough as it gets....
Looking forward to Thompson beating Nick...
