Religion Folau

Why Bob? He screwed every last cent out of the union movement

Because for his flaws he genuinely cared about the little man, and the idea of fairness and decency, and the idea of Australians throwing money at a multi millionaire like Folau would of made him sick.

You couldn't be more wrong if you tried. It's beyond money and any ideological hatred you might have of others who've earned it.

Only Religious organisations and most don't. To not agree that Folau should be vilified and sacked does not equate to homophobia.

Ah yeah, most do. And I can guarantee that for a lot people who donated to Izzy's cause, like a lot of people who are posting in his defense in this thread, the issue is not "religious freedom", it's the freedom to vilify and hate on gays.

Christians are free to choose who they hire and fire on the basis of their sexuality.

The amount of unspoken homophobia in this thread is appalling.
Correct

If religion is allowed to exist it will reject certain people who they deem not to be consistent with their doctrines.

You want to work for an organisation whose purposes include promoting teachings that your lifestyle is wrong then you are not fit for the role.

Folau just wants to play rugby. Sure, RA can say that it’s objects include promoting rugby and supporting the LGBT community so we can exclude you if you do take a different view, but that may be illegal which is what this case will determine.

You can try to make the religion’s decision illegal but those laws might be unconstitutional.

Maybe a referendum is needed to decide the future of the country and to remove the bias in favour of religion the jpg that you spam succinctly points out. The SSM plebiscite showed that there is a chance that people will support a repeal of the section in the constitution relating to the Commonwealth not being able to legislate in respect of religion.

Apart from the current tally, it shows the massive support from the silent majority, the ordinary everyday Australians.

Who are pig ignorant enough to believe this is about freedom of speech and this could lead to the sky falling in, because Alan Jones, Bolt and the rest keep repeating it.

It’s a workplace relations dispute.

Plain and simple.

So, you're fine with gays being victimised and vilified but not Christians.
'
Gotcha.

I am ok with anyone being criticised or their ideas being questioned. I am not ok with people campaigning employers , companies , advertisers or sponsors to try ruin someone's life just because somebody hurt their feelings.

Now that is revisionist, Bob cared about himself, Keating had more care about the little guy

It's much more than that now. The outrage brigade still don't think it's enough Israel lost his job that they are now trying everything in their power to stop him from raising money for his legal costs by campaigning gofundme to cancel his page and now trying to get the ACL investigated.

They are even campaigning for the Adelaide Thunderbirds to sack his wife for supporting her husband.

What a bunch of pathetic little individuals .

Correct.

Folau would still have a job if he had of posted the Ten Commandments.

It’s when you start talking about specific sections of the community going to hell you are going to run into problems.

Isn't Folau's tweet still up?

His speech hasn't been stifled at all.

Lest we forget (Manus, Nauru, etc...)

Why only specific sections of the community. Why is it ok for everyone else to go to hell but not Gays

IMO the majority of those donating to this cause and Folau himself are not coming from a compassionate empathetic position. I'll hazard a guess that it is coming from high on a horse based in a condescending and judgmental viewpoint.

If they thought they'd get away with it they'd call for conversion therapy centers.

Unless Folau can demonstrate some level of transparency and accountability for where this money is ultimately going to end up, bloody oath his charity pages should be taken down.

His speech hasn't been stifled at all.
If you sent him to jail for the tweet but allowed it to stay up would you also conclude that his speech hasn’t been stifled at all?

Nice logic.

Maybe you can even permit him to keep tweeting from jail.

Freedom!

I don’t understand the devoutly religious. Putting all my faith in the hand-me-down words of flat earthers who probably wiped their butts with tree leaves doesn’t make much sense to me.

But for sure, you can’t preach tolerance of religion on one hand and then on the other, suppress a man from expressing views that are firmly rooted in his belief system.

Gotcha.
No individual should be victimised including gay Christians, but all Australians should have the right to free speech, especially religious freedom of speech.
As long as violence, hatred, racism etc isn't promoted then we should be free to express our thoughts and opinions.
Folau didn't promote any violence, hatred, or racism at all, he listed eight issues that in "his" and his "faiths" opinion, individuals will go to hell unless they repent.

First it was the AFL telling us how to barrack at the footy, now we have big corporations like RA, ANZ, Quantas, Gofund me, and even sites like Big Footy where the mods are intent on telling us what to think and say.
Like the majority of Aussies who don't agree with his comments, judging by the massive speed and number of donations, it obviously shows most ordinary Aussies are sick of being told how to think. The anti-Folau mob in this thread are a prime example.

Slippery slope fallacy.
Try to keep the argument rational.

Um, he isn’t in jail and nobody has suggested he should be.

Can barely hear you from all the way up on that high horse of yours

So the last three religious organisations I have been at 7000, 2500 and 1200 employees do not descriminate against LGBTI people in fact they celebrate that diversity.

Supporting religious freedom is not automatically vilifying gays, as many have said, what he said was wrong, but what happened to him was also wrong. No one has said you shouldn't be able to object to what he said or find offence in it. With all respect it doesn't seem you can see the two sides on this issue and of course that's understandable,

How is condemning a minority group to hell not inciting hatred?
