When you are at school they are responsible for you, when you are in a class that teacher is responsible.Bingo. On one. I'll let you guess.
I've worked in all manner of environments and some it's impossible to get a phone out (gloves, too busy, etc) or you're just going to get a rep for being lazy.
I use my phone a ludicrous amount because I've been an internet abuser since about 14. ******* obsessed with the ****. So much information, so much to read. I love just going onto the same old websites and reading whatever article they've put up, there's always some soccer player from 2005 who pops into my head and where he's playing now... all this information, all this knowledge, all these pretty paintings, and all this nonsense on tap. If you're a quizzical mind, how can you not?
I think the education system is ****** and I think they're very backward. One day it's going to dawn on them how useless and impractical it's been for the last ten years. They'll be reactive – not proactive – and let's wait and see how that plays out. The WA Education Department would chop and change protocol and syllabus every year so let's wait and see how ****** it'll be when they go all out, proper wholesale changes.
I guess what I'm saying is I'm a byproduct of the phone and media and I also think it's ****** I am.
Jobe Watson is saying **** being told what to do when you're an adult and legally able to join in with all things that are great. By teachers. It's different when you're an employee. There's a natural dynamic. You have to suck that ****. But teachers? Why should you be degraded, humiliated, and talked down to when you've already made 99% of your learning and social skills (aka the purpose of the school)? Why do you have to eat that?
Even back when I was a kid, I'd see teachers texting and we weren't. This fat pommy teacher, who used to bully a mate of mine because his face was 'red' (his family was dirt poor and he was a noble, kind soul) would go off her nut at the blokes for texting and then do it herself.
If I'm not allowed to text as a student, why should you be able to on the job? You're supposed to be learning.
This should be at the discretion of schools not the government.
And lol at it being a cyber bullying preventative measure. Are they going to ban them using Facebook etc at home as well?
Um, no. It’s a school’s responsibility at, you know, school.
That’s like saying the school and teachers should just allow students to beat the **** out of each other in the classroom. I mean... it’ll just happen after school anyway, won’t it?
It's completely different. When you are at school they are responsible for you, when you are in a class that teacher is responsible.
You think being 18 and having to do what the teacher says is bad, you're going to adjust really well to a boss half your age when that comes around.
Anyone who thinks turning 18 puts them automatically in charge of all their decisions probably thinks lord of the flies sounded like Utopia
s**t teachers has nothing to do with your idea that 18 year old students shouldn't have to follow the rules. It's completely different.
I feel like Bigfooty is either full of ignorants or teacher's pets or you all went t the most amazing schools ever. Or, more likely, there's lots of parents of teachers here.
Lots of teachers got nasty, personal, and bullying toward children. Knew nothing: butchered spelling, couldn't tell you the difference between Northern Ireland and the Republic Of. It's pretty ******. Bosses are accountable to conduct and have to toe a line. Teachers get away with all sorts.
If you think I like managers...**** teachers has nothing to do with your idea that 18 year old students shouldn't have to follow the rules.
You want to talk about ignorance, you act like all teachers are evil child destroyers and all managers are held to account and good guys, but go to a thread about work and you're bitching about work the same way as school.
they interviewed some kids on the news about the ban, one kid said "how am I supposed to look up my times tables?". Seriously?!?!
No i don't think you like managwrs but you act like they are held to a higher stndard than teachers and are made accountable for their actions while teachers are not.If you think I like managers...
Rules are made to be broken baby. Where's the anger? Has the angry young man in the back of the class, drawing in his pad, with untapped potential that'll never be realised, angry and jilted really gone? It probably has. I look through my school's year books and it's self-smug little ****s. I look at ones from the 1980s and can see their highs and lows and the sadness and want in their eyes.
I'm going to make a call to the education department tomorrow and complain about the heinous **** I saw.
Maybe it's changed – I've hoped – but 13-year olds are less tapped into things such as bullying than 30-year old office workers. One gets away with a lot more than the other. No i don't think you like managwrs but you act like they are held to a higher stndard than teachers and are made accountable for their actions while teachers are not.
Not really true is it
Schools have had anti-phone policies in place for years. Why the government is intervening I have no idea but banning phones isn't exactly a new phenomenon. As for your second point, I remember when I was at school that parents would have to contact the front office who would then call the class the student was in to come over.Yeah instead of teaching students why it's a good idea to pay attention and not use your phone during class, let's just out-right ban it instead.. I'm sure the older kids in high school are gonna enjoy getting treated like idiots.. and what if someone around that age is expecting an urgent phone call?
Do kids still play sport at recess and lunch? I've been hanging out near a few primary schools lately and whilst the kids still seem to enjoy sport, the same can't be said for the High Schools I've been studying.
We used to sit on the oval and smoke.
Just hanging out near some primary schools hey?Do kids still play sport at recess and lunch? I've been hanging out near a few primary schools lately and whilst the kids still seem to enjoy sport, the same can't be said for the High Schools I've been studying.
