Get rid of Douglas too. How dare he have a go at his teammates given his own performance.

I think what you saw last night was Douglas farewell game.

Players should have carried him off. I mean they tried to carry him for the entire match, makes sense to do it after the match too.

Agree 33 next year in feb. Lost a yard and vision. Cooked. Should be allowed to pick a home game to say goodbye 😢. Good club man 💪 but time.

The most frustrating thing watching Douglas is that he is still able to get to where the ball is, but then proceeds to fumble or slip over or get tackled.

No, we got him a couple of years to late.

The selfish prick could have come home for nothing as a FA, instead of wasting two firsts on him.

Yep, if only he was a FA in 2015, instead of ‘14. We would have had a better chance of getting him then, and it it would have carlton too as they may have got pick 2 as compensation.

The key word here is “form dip”, as last year he was performing admirably when most midfielders were crumbling around him (Sloane, Crouch bros). Gibbs was a very good player for us last year.

2 general reasons:
- off-field dramas (in which case he should be getting some time off to set his mind straight)
- on-field dramas.

Things I think could be affecting him on-field:
- his role/position is not suiting him
- feeling extra heat from players in the reserves, where this has not been a major issue in the past at Carlton with their poor depth and us last year with our high injury count
- other?

Was Gibbs that good last year or was he the only one who didn't get injured.

Didn't someone on here do a B&F votes per game and he wasn't top 10?

He was good last year, and better than he is right now.

Exhibit A - Roast thread in 2019.

Exhibit B - no Roast thread in 2018.

I understand that whatever might be happening off field could be as weighing heavy on him, but apparently he was good in the sanfl and wasn’t totally unaccountable. So why hasn’t that form transitioned?

Maybe he should go on leave for the rest of year, and see if he can improve his mindset.

Are we going to cut ties with Gibbs at the end of the season ?

Surely this cannot be great for the morale of the Club.

Juddernaut08 you do realise that passive liking from an opposition supporter is trolling dont you d1ckhead?

Yep, the desire is still there with Douglas. Not able physically anymore to both cover the ground (which he's still doing) AND be physically sharp and quick at the contest. He's giving tired efforts at the contest.

Gibbs looked completely dispirited last night. Zero touches in the last quarter when the game was on the line.

It's a lot easier to look good against a lower grade of opposition where the level of desperation is lower

On votes per game he was behinf a player who hadn't even played afl before that year

If his off field rumours are true, we need to delist or trade him at the end of the season. Cannot keep a player like this and performing this way at our Club.

I blame Carlton to be honest, not the first time they have traded players with massive off field personal issues.

The gap between the AFL and SANFL is huge, I mean can you ever see Sam Jacobs kicking 5 goals in an AFL game

Well actually pretty horrific of them to hold him to his contract for an extra year if he thought being home would help.

Though personally I think the return to Adelaide was more about running from his problems than a genuine fresh start

Is there any proof he has "massive off field personal issues"? I've heard rumours on BF, and it's just an echo chamber. But is there any evidence?

He's clearly not at his best. But there could be purely footy reasons for this. He may simply on the decline due to age. He may be in a form slump. There may be player-coach relationship issues.

The trade was a disaster but to be honest I still understand and agree with what we did. A the end of 2017 we needed to add A class talent to a team who had just lost the premiership and just lost two potential guns in Lever and Cameron. It's just a pity Gibbs turned out to be nowhere near an A grader and nowhere near the type of talent we actually needed.

Yes but doesn’t explain why there seems to be a significant gap in how effort he puts in.
Why would he work hard to get back in the team only to play with no heart.

H
What a ******** comment.

He was almost best on ground vs Melbourne and played a very critical role in shutting down a prime mover in Oliver to only get dropped for doing what they asked him to do.

No wonder they don’t give a stuff if that’s the message getting sent.

Pyke: you need to improve your defensive game.
Gibbs: cuts Oliver out of the game. Crows win.
Pyke: Gibbs, you’re dropped
Gibbs: WTF!!
He has gave us nothing since the 1st half of last year, Doesn't look interested and goes missing during big games. Better off without him.

Oh that’s definitely the issue.

It’s certainly not related to his grub agent becoming your list manager and having him skip out on us after we front loaded his contract.
Your list managers knew all about his problems, knew he wanted to come home 12 months previously, and yet still shafted us for 2 first rounders. I can't wait to see the backlash towards them when we steal Pick 1 off you .....whatever it is, they will fully deserve it.

Not sure how an unrelated trade becomes part of this discussion.

The insinuation is that Carlton acted improperly by holding him to his contract.

Is Reid somehow better for dangling big $$$ in his face while having inside knowledge of his client and his contract with Carlton?
