Hawthorn vs. Collingwood (MCG) (N)

Collingwood:

701949

Brodie Grundy
had marginally the better of the duel with Todd Goldstein and his 133 in a side which was given a fair old touch-up (in the Harvey Weinstein sense of the word) underlines his scoring output and ceiling this year. With his stellar 174 last week and the Gawndog-inflicted 84 having dropped out of the rolling average, he’ll easily achieve his 87 BE and set you back a cool 666k, the number of the SC BEAST.

Adam Treloar knocked up getting touches and rewarded coaches who got him at a bargain basement price of 504-508k recently. Treloar is a streaky player who can go on runs like this. If you think h can keep it up, 530k (BE 60) is still affordable and potentially OK bang for buck.

701950

Treloar and Grundy celebrate their induction into the Masonic Lodge

Scott Pendlebury, off his tucker of late, gave his owners better output with a 111. He’s now down to 503k with a BE of 113, a much more appealing price point than at his peak, he might bottom out at around 500k next week. Probably no longer SC-relevant if MID-only next year, nostalgia buffs might be keen to get the band together one last time on the run home this year.

701955

Taylor Adams seems to be perpetually two weeks away and we’re almost past the point where could be of use to us this year, unless as a cheap injury replacement after 1-2 games back.

Jordan De Goey was averaging 90 on the season but, starved of supply, he scored 47. His output is always liable to fluctuate. His price has plummeted to 431k (after reaching 487k recently) and with a BE of 138, he’ll probably shed another 25k-odd this week. Could be value thereafter, but the Tomahawk is more appealing and likely cheaper.

Jack Crisp , realistically more a Fantasy pick, profited from seeing a lot of ball and followed up last week’s 109 with a solid 99. At 458k, you could go him, but as an owner I’d say look to try to free up a little more and look at a Stewart or Rich type.

Darcy Moore proved his worth for those who fielded him as a DPP swinger in their FWD / DEF line to cover an out with a timely century in a side well beaten on the night.

Hawthorn:

Ricky Henderson
put in a fairly uninspiring 68 to end his recent hot streak. He’s priced at 530k and while he’s been a great revival story, there are other value options going around.

Jaeger O’Meara, who has bottomed out at 430k, enjoyed not copping as much attention as in recent weeks. His BE is low and if you need a low-price MID option (M8/M9), he might be worth a look, just be realistic in your expectations, he’s more the 100-105 bracket.

James Sicily was mercifully played down back and scored semi-respectably at 83 while arguing with an umpire, setting two dwarves on fire, accusing a old-age pensioner in a wheelchair of having no work ethic and just generally endearing himself to the community at large. At 435k and with his BE still at 135, he’ll probably bottom out at 410k.

701952

Alastair Clarkson reacts to news that he won’t be able to pick SicDawg up at sub-400k as a D6 looper.

Young Dylan Moore didn’t get much TOG, which is pretty weird for a kid with a decent tank. He put up a 46, which is only relevant in terms of the price increase for those looking to cash him in soon. If you’ve got him on-field, it can only be due to copping injuries. At 261k and with a BE of 46, he might make it to about 267k or so, 270 at the outside.

The Worpedo was again solid if unspectacular. He hasn’t let anyone down this year and has been a decent starting pick.

Saturday, July 6 Essendon vs. Sydney Swans (MCG)

Essendon:

The Dons snuck home on the back of some fairly original umpiring decisions and another monolithic performance from Shaun ‘Smacker’ McKernan. He tonned up and did it on the bit, as you’d expect from a clear first ballot HOFer. If Bellchambers misses considerable time and if the Bombers aren’t keen on bringing in Zac Clarke, he could see more time as a utility / undersized mobile ruck. 316k is an absolute steal, he’s this week’s must have. The void of significance could open up a la ROB.

Zach Merrett was probably Essendon’s best on balance but his DE was up and down and he didn’t lay many tackles, so 88 seems correct weight. He’ll set you back 558k and has a 138 BE, which isn’t bad at all but there are others around the price point or cheaper who’ll also come into consideration for people’s final MID spot.
701959

The Zerrett doll was popular but led to some recalls due to missing the target and taking out the odd eye.

Dys Heppell was solid but subpremo, Darcy Parish recovered pretty well on 93, truth be told, after a very slow start which would have had his owners a bit worried. Pidge McGrath has been overtaken pretty handily by Hugh McLuggage, but part of that is role and opportunities.

Dylan Clarke scored 63, which was better than other Cripps replacements Hately and Bewley, and he didn’t do much wrong, restricting both Coniglio and Kelly at stages. Woosha still waterboarded him in front of the group and egged his mother’s house as punishment for not kicking nine goals to boot.

Michael Hurley disappointed anew with a 69 on the back of a 74 last week and he is one to buy at a discount, not full whack. He’s currently 461k with a BE around 130 for those with a penchant for the POD.

Sydney:

JPK
wound back the clock and scored a great 125. It was his low clanger count, 8 tackles and pretty good DE that got him there. He was in good touch prior to his injury and at 504k with a 97 BE, he might be capable of one last hurrah given he was averaging about 110 prior to the injury.

Luke Parker didn’t quite hit the heights of recent weeks, but 106 is hardly a disaster and his 5-rd average is still above 125.

Dane Rampe refrained from going full koala on a goal post, gifting game-winning goals by running over the mark in an attempt to strike an extremely aggressive yoga pose to misalign the opposition goalkicker’s chakras and insulting little girls everywhere by comparing them to umpires (low act, Dane, learn from it) long enough to ton up one more . He’ll set you back 558k, so you’d want to hope he can basically track square with the Gulls and the Hurndogs of the world on the run home.

Gold Coast SUNS vs. Richmond (MS)

Gold Coast:

Darcy MacPherson
and Jarrod Witts registered 97 and 110 respectively, Witts benefitting from Callum Sinclair sitting out most of the game after dislocating his shoulder early and surging inj particular in the fourth quarter, so he really could / should have made slightly more out of the game.

The most viable Sun probably remains Lachie Weller at 476k, with MID/DEF DPP which might work for some and he should be good for a 90-95 average down back.

Richmond:

Dustin Martin
registered another ton (100 on the dot), he’ll set you back 521k, which buys you a 102 5-rd average and some genuine upside potential with the Tigers reintegrating some topliners and playing a lot of games at the MCG on the run home.

Noah Balta was astoundingly dropped, leading to pre-game suggestions that the Tigers might have been tanking,

This was nipped in the bud quickly as it became clear that this was to give the man, the myth, the legend, Mabior Chol the chance to take them game by the scruff of the neck. Trouser arousal reached fever pitch as his silky ton saw tents pitched and semis sported proudly in living rooms around this great nation, proving that you can’t keep a good Chol down.

At 102k and with a BE of -111, if he had DPP, he could be really handy as cheap short-term cover for Gawn, but he’s sadly FWD only. Might have OK-ish JS and survive a month or so until Nank returns.

701961

A completely unrelated image, not sure how it found its way in here.

Sydney Stack showed his versatility up forward in taking a mark of the year candidate and kicking important goals early for the Tiges. He’s up to 412k with a BE of 43 for those with and deserves a l;ot more consideration for the Rising Star than has been given to him to date.

Houli, Ellis and Short were all fairly disappointing and it’s hard to know who has the best prospects on the run home, Hard to know if the trough is big enough for all three snouts (or any one for long enough for them to work out well). Bit of a watch this space component to it, the whole thing.

701962

After the game, Mabior likes nothing better than to unwind with some good easy listening music.

Adelaide vs Port Adelaide:

Adelaide:

The Sloane Ranger racked up a 129 on debut for those who followed the value and grabbed him to fill one of their final MID spots. Matt Crouch, scored a rock solid 109 , Brad Crouch got a passmark with a solid 95.

The man, the myth, the money-making legend Reilly O’Brien amazingly might still represent an arbitrage prospect on the back of a solid 120 and with Gawn’s injury. Those without Gawn but with ROB are positioned very nicely indeed.

It was a dirty night for Adelaide’s DEF eligibles. Wayne Milera, a popular low-price addition in rd 12 to replace Lachie Whitfield, didn’t even play, having apparently hurt his lower back against the Tigers. This was of course not mentioned in their injury report, kindly compiled by staff physician Dr Nick Riviera:
701973

If it isn’t my old friend, he’s no Sydney Stack, Wayno’s sunk a few seasons with his half-rooted back.

Rory Laird also underwhelmed slightly, turning in an 85. This was OK but is his second score in the 80’s in three weeks, which is not ideal.

Brodie Smith did play but his scoring just isn’t where you want it to be at this stage of the year and hasn’t been for a while now. D7 at best.

Port Adelaide:

Travis Boak
was again reliable and superpremo at 114. He’s now priced at 565k with a BE of 100-odd, which is not overs at all if he stays in 115-avg territory.

Tom Rockliff racked up 57 touches,14 tackles, 12 clearances and 7 marks in the SANFL, dominating at will. Should be straight back in but he’s every chance to miss this week – with leather poisoning. (I’ll be here all week, make sure to tip your waitress.)

What I love about him is that he’s all about the team, couldn’t give a rat's for individual stats:

Robbie Gray (was at 472k, 112 3-rd avg going into rd 15, now 471k with a BE of 100) found the going tough and registered only 62. With Wines building and Rocky surely back, owners may be slightly alarmed, but he should hopefully remain viable.

Justin Westhoff (372k) was finally poised to benefit from Charlie Dixon’s return and resume a roaming commission, only to be given the arse. With Gawn potentially to miss (although the club is saying he should be right), many will be in need of him as R2 cover for the week and willlook on with interest

Scott Lycett was huge again with a 165. He has benefited from being the lone wolf and having a friendly fixture the last two weeks, but that’s still an incredible clip. He’s risen to a mammoth 569k and a BE of -8.

Dan Houston with his DEF eligibility but playing in a mid role had boasted a 3-rd 94 average but barely brought up a 50 on the weekend, putting things in perspective.

Hamish Hartlett has been building nicely since his return. He has MID/DEF DPP and because of the injury discount, he’ll still only set you back 387k this week despite the 130 on the weekend. With a BE of 8, if you are keen, you’re best off doing it this week. His durability and ability to sustain this are flies in the ointment, he is clearly a risk/reward pick.

I'm having problems with Houli's scoring ......any coincidence that his run of great scores finished eaxactly when Ramadan finished .....he looks chubbier

As a SuperCoacher we go to great lengths for our team members .....so I've resurrected an ancient tribal SC dance ....hoping this stimulates Houli on the weekend

You might want to have your goon squad have a quiet word with Mr Short when you're done twerking.

Just to be clear, this is the mob that served me up a s**t sandwich to the tune of 2152 last weekend. Had Grundy as captain and also have Marshall and Fyfe, yet couldn't crack 2200 with one short of a complete team. Yep, these projections are clearly designed to induce physical violence against computer screens.

Pretty sure everyone that had Gawn as captain still outscored me. :'(:'(
