AFL Toast Rnd 16: Win against the Swans

Clarke has to go. Complete liability. That was probably the worst game from an Essendon player this year.

Is McKernan in trouble for his accidental elbow in the last?

Just quietly, our record of 4-1 in the past 5 weeks is top 4 in the comp.

The one loss being to the reigning premiers on their home turf... which not many of us expected to win anyway.

The team we played today has also had exceptional form of late... but that may be conveniently forgotten in the review of the game.

Ugly win is ugly win.

We had the rub of free kicks, some of which were bizarre to say the least. Allir grabbing Laveredes ankle was the most infuriating non call. There were a few that resulted in direct shots at goal which is s**t.

Zach Clarke is a liabilityfor us...but what else do we do?

Gleeson has slotted back in nicely. Couple of times grabbed at his foot which was a worry but he played on.

McGrath continues to build his game.

Hate to say it but rubbish free to McKernan, three sitters missed and two advantages that robbed the Swans of relatively simply set shots.

Granted that a side must take its opportunities but that game was played as a loss (just as last week was). There was little to nothing good to come of it. We couldn't even contrive a centre square set up to take advantage of the Alir not even contesting the ball ups and the Swans' mids just brushed ours aside.

I shake my head at the idea a side can be so bad but still win games (two in a row at that).

We're in dangerous territory. The competition is s**t and we might make finals. Does anyone seriously want to continue with this rubbish for another 18 months?
Has been a lot of similar games across all teams in recent weeks. Low scoring poor skill level and no one can hit a target in the forward line. Personally I like winning . It is what it is and I am not going to be one wanting us to simply lose week in and week out.

Same as last week.

We only looked functional forward of centre when Hooker went forward. He seems to give us a semblance of structure, so wtf not start him there?

Bring Hartley in, offload spud Clarke forever & we might put together more than 1-2 qtrs of footy.

Not sure they are using Dylan Clarke the correct way. The last few weeks they have had him running players in Kelly and Parker who have inside games but are also very good outside runners. His best game against the Blues was when he was matched up on Cripps who plays inside all day when he is in the midfield. They simply need to just find him an inside match up. This week it should have been Kennedy next week it should be Cunnington.

He was Cloning Hepps. Watch closely next time Hepps plays.
We used to have a can for everytime he pointed to nothing and no-one but we couldn't keep up, bit like when he was pointing.

LOL so that's it. At one point Zaka was facing the southern stand and he was yelling and pointing, like the crowd was suppose to fill a hole or something.

To be fair, Parker had 11 touches after QT

Look he did an okay job but chasing Parker around the outside as well stops him from finding the footy as much. His best form is matching up on the pure inside midfielders.

Agree 100% - the most interesting thing is it's usually hard to tag inside mids and easy to tag outsiders. We may have the only player in the comp who can reliably tag inside mids and we're using him on outside runners. Cunnington then Sloane

Terrible game we both deserved to lose if possible.
But...
Let’s not pretend.

Vic umpires handed the Vic team a win.

Last week - Essendon lost all key stats - but won a 29-14 free kick count. Same today - list all stats, 26-16 frees to Essendon. Both against Sydney teams.

The Dawson head -elbow non 50; ignoring a htb in front; ignoring Heeney’s mark in front. Essendon were gifted effectively 15-20 contested possies and 4 goals. Can’t beat this fraud.

Better side lost again. 2016 contrived fairytale all over again.

The League needs some Melbourne teams in the finals - looks like you're in.

p.s. Knoll is doing real well in our ressies, thanks for asking.;)

Both sides were terrible at times but how far away is Buddy because him being out leaves a big hole.

Aww the AFL need to replace their Swan darlings? The smallest violin for Sydney. We need another 9 games like that for it to repay the s**t we copped.
At the end of the day, we're 2 games ahead for a reason. Should be 4 games if Rampe was properly penalised, but we're the better side and it showed in the end. Enjoy.

Roos is a ******* turnip. He seems to be unaware of the job description of the “commentator”, rather he views his role as one of providing one profound statement after another.
Unfortunately he’s about as profound as a wet fart and his output more biased than anything Eddie has ever served up calling a Pies game. His relative silence late in the match truly was golden.
Almost equally as sickening was his colleagues in the box clambering over each other to agree vigorously with each statement he made.
