Imagine Port adding Rankine and Luko if they turn into what they should/could be, to Rozee, Durrsma etc.

That group coming through together..
Boak, Gray, Dixon, Ryder, Hartlett, Westhoff, Ebert, Rockliff, Broadbent, Jonas, Motlop - all 29+ from the start of next year.

They actually have a list that's REALLY aging. The quality of players not drafted last year is really low because they traded their draft picks so often.

If we need to start paying way overs to get/retain talent then so be it. What we have done up to now obviously hasn't worked.

Players don't just add value during their first year. A bunch have shown they're better than their draft pick. Some therefore have shown they were picked too early.

Luko has shown he's mostly like to be a Lynch type mobile flanker. A top three pick is a big overspend.

The first year for a player is really a free hit. A year you can only gain unless something goes horribly wrong. You are primarily there to sell that you are someone worth investing in. That is before factoring in that it doesn't take much to turn Lynch type mobile flanker into a KPF especially if they're tall enough (I'd be inclined to argue Lynch would make a damaging CHF right now, seeing he only really lacks a 50 m kick). Players like Riewoldt built careers off work rate and a touch of class.

As said, I've given you every reason you could lose value first season. Getting games at an AFL level isn't going to cause any of them (ok, except long term LTIs, that could happen) because you're showing at that point there is a level of reality to the future someone has envisioned for you by being ahead of where you are expected to be at. Performance, or lack thereof has nothing to do with it right now outside of potentially upselling that vision. Performance only harms at around the 3 season mark as you've had enough time (especially with preseasons as the vast majority of a players development happens there) to begin to put that vision in reality.

That's also before factoring in that they're contracted which means their value has already increased by that piece of paper.

We played 'overs' with pick 2 for weller, but he is averaging 24 elite disposals, fits into our age bracket, experience and wanted to come to us, honestly couldn't be happier with that trade..

It's gonna take more than carlton's pick and you won't have this leverage again in upcoming years, tex, jenkins and betts are all getting on

Sounds just like us except minus the young talent getting blooded in our case

Why do you think that?

Port have three good young players, but they also have way too much aging quality.

Riley Bonner - 22
Ollie WInes - 24
Robbie Gray - 31
Scott Lycett - 26

What does it say?

The three draftees are good. Most of the rest of their U/28 list is mediocre, exactly as I said. I'll give you Lycett and Clurey and MAYBE Wines.

There is a reason we were six and one before that game, and a reason we should have been three goals up at half time. We absolutely shat the bed after half time, but that doesn't suddenly make the team that was terrible against the Bulldogs and Freo a good side.

We'll wait until he's out of contract.

There's absolutely no reason to overpay for a flanker.

Your last sentence makes you sound desperate for a trade now.

If I was the Gold Coast, I would be holding onto those assets as they will only increase in value. Unless, you have already lost confidence in them?

Port should make a serious play for our best kids playing in the SANFL to be honest, we dont really need them. When you have selection policies that allow potatoes like Douglas and Mackay to be selected ahead of you. It speaks volumes.

If Port actually got their crap together, they will win a flag before us.

They will.

Its all good for you, and obviously others here asking the question, to pluck players names out that you’d like to get off of us but ultimately it comes down to the player..

Brad Crouch is a crow from Vic country and if he ever decided to leave the crows, or if the crows stupidly decided to say “Brad, we’re thinking of trading you”, then it will brad deciding where he’s going not anyone else.

So all these “who/what would you accept for pick/player” hypotheticals are totally pointless.

Why would Brad Crouch want to go to Gold Coast?

And if GC have lost confidence in retaining rankine or lukoscious long term, and im not suggesting they have, then this is the year to trade them out as it looks as if the crows are going to have a top 5 pick this year..

So of the over 30's..if we say Douglas gone at years end and betts not best 22 - a mentoring year in the SANFL maybe?. Jenkins 50/50 (and I am not sure who else was over 30 in saturday nights game?), it is 2 / 3 spots to be filled by younger players - however Walker, Sloane and Lynch will all be 30 next year. 3 younger players at the least are an absolute must to come in and after watching the geelong second half and the showdown second half, those changes need to be in the midfield and forward line. Hoping that Chayce Jones comes on well and grabs a starting berth and that Noah Anderson (I am keeping fingers crossed we get him) also comes straight in. Himmelberg should be transitioned in for Jenkins and somehow Fogarty needs to be into the team. Stengle for betts seems a no brainer. Also, take the captaincy away from Walker - who knows it might free him up a bit?

What it says is that the majority of their side were kids and they smashed us.

And to think 2 of the over 30s are Douglas and Mackay, fu** me drunk. It's unbelievable that our coaches think those 2 were imperative to our chances of winning.
Horrific really.

Also there was another 7 aged between 27-30.

So they have 11 U25. We had 11 over 27

We really are at the edge of the cliff with this group.
