Who is accountable for our club's catastrophic misreading of our list?

So you just admitted you wanted Mackay back over juniors. Make up your mind. You are either happy being competitive or you want to invest in the youth. You might say you want to play kids but reality is you prefer Mackay and Douglas. You would have had Jacobs back a month ago too after he kicked 5.

For the 20th time

If the coaches want to push for the flag you are going to play players that give you depth to cover injuroes and can actually survive at AFL level when in form

If you want to develop play the youth

It was pretty damn clear they thought and probably still think they are a chance, I just try to predict what Pyke will do

And yet you wanted Mackay back in

What are we doing with Milera?

Last year he had a clear role and a very good season.

This year he's shuffled between forward, back and midfield and doesn't seem to have been used the same way twice.

Yep. Given our midfield mix we just need him in there changing up forward and thats his position.

Been asking this for a few weeks. We refuse to settle him into a role.

It’s like the thinking is ....we need a bit of class up forward, no hang on, now we need a bit of class in the mids. No, actually we need some class off half back.

1 classy player to fill multiple vacancies

Everyone please stop being mean to the boys, they are servants of the club, they selflessly go out there and get paid 100s of thousands to put in the bare minimum. We should all be grateful for the privlege of seeing them in action. They have graciously engaged in the performative act of appearing to apologise, so now we must all give the boys a chance to respond, because in the end this is just a once off occurrence and we know our best is good enough as it has been for 21 years.

Who was at the game last week?

Did Brodie Smith really start forward?

The things we'll do to accommodate David Mackay

Yep, clubs do it all the time. We knew they'd go to him so we started him forward to throw them a bit.

Wasn't hugely successful but we did try.
Seems dumb

We always beat them doing what we do

He went forward because of Mackay I reckon. Same as the last time we played D Mac, Atkins and Seedsman at the same time and shunted Seed forward (with no success either).

Tried a new way to fit in Mackay this week and that didn't work either.

I wonder what we'll try this week? Laird forward?

In current form Laird wouldnt be out of place with Mackay in the SANFL.

Scary thing is I have seen tweets very similar in style to this

Rubbish, had nothing to do with a tag. We dropped Davis, brought DMac in to half back and pushed our best ball carrier into a high forward role.

Our best ball carrier who has been in woeful form. It's not that hard to understand really, Smith has struggled with the right checking, so we move him forward to free him up.

Again it didn't work that well, but these weird conspiracy theories people come up with are quite funny.

So we’d release Smith from a tag, but leave Sloane.

Makes sense

We've done it with Sloane before, although I'd argue not enough and not soon enough.

Played forward a bit last year, but the damage was already done.

We are slow learners after all.

Whilst pushing Smith forward was clearly a mistake - as he provides run, i'm not sure freeing up Sloane would have been the difference. Sloane is a good two way runner and should be able to get free if others were playing well ... Port thrashed us with overlapping play, quick ball movement and gut running. Our game plan is based around slowing down play to create contests that we hope we can win with Crouches. We have bent a game plan to suit a slow squad - which we keep 'backing in'. No way we win a flag or even first week of finals with halves of footy at this time of year.
