"The extreme rightwing ideology that inspired the Christchurch mosque killer has been promoted so effectively by the far right that it has entered mainstream political discourse, new analysis reveals.

Researchers have found that organised far-right networks are pushing a conspiracy known as the “great replacement” theory to the extent that references to it online have doubled in four years, with more than 1.5 million on Twitter alone, a total that is rising exponentially."

“The international far right’s potential to incite violence has been systematically underestimated and neglected by governments, security forces and tech firms over the past decade. To prevent future far-right terrorist acts, we need a more proactive, globally coordinated response, as we had in the global response to jihadism.”

LOL.
Yes because the responses to Jihadism have been so effective around the world they should be mimicked!!
I mean does Sri Lanka mean nothing to you? What about France? What about the fact the total Jihadist numbers worldwide are estimated now to be greater than at any other time in history? I mean clearly they all demonstrate an obviously effective response to the problem:rolleyes:
I guess we could always try the understanding route and encourage more immigration of right leaning white folks to encourage assimilation and understanding. That approach has worked so well in Europe regarding Muslims and Jihad. I mean it's not like every Europe nation is back-tracking and even ceasing to take Muslim refugees or something. (Oh Wait:oops:)
We could always try and invade and shoot down all the right leaning white folk in their main domicile areas, certainly that approach worked so well in Afganistan and Iraq without increasing Jihadist numbers in any way:huh:
It's as if the fact you haven't seen another 9/11 recently, or your own personal space hasn't been violated by the loss of a family members head, you actually think the issue is resolved or something.
People like you are so ironically funny. You like to make these self delusional attempts at self aggrandising and intellectual posting whilst in reality having no idea or awareness you are a purveyor of juvenile nonsense.

Interesting response.

It's a quote from the article. But my take on it was that Jihadism was in reference to Islamic terrorist attacks in the west.

'Jihadism' is a term that has been constructed in Western languages to describe militant Islamic movements that are perceived as existentially threatening to the West"

Yet more, learned, educated, interfering, "Western" self aggrandising academia, getting it all wrong. Oh let's send some "Western" experts in to study the Arabs and then start constructing some new purpose fit definitions of things like "Jihad" (you know that ancient Arab word we'll just add a little of Western "ism" understanding and extension to) and astound Arab and "Westerner" alike with all our brilliance of understanding never before conceived until we came along (see Gilles Kepel).
It is not a Muslim V "West" problem and never has been. The carrying on through the ages in non "western" countries and indeed internally, ignored by so called "experts" in Academia, blinded to little more than their own fishbowl, juvenile, understandings of self identifying existence and more "current" methods of action, should be enough for any truly intelligent individual to grasp that reality.

Here's some clues for you regarding these types of articles quoting expert "Think Tank" groups.
The Institute for Strategic Dialogue referred to in your quoted article is yet another globalist, elite money making, venture creating mouthpiece, masquerading as something else entirely and fooling the like of you and most journalists around the globe.
It is sponsored and funded by The United Nations Development Program, The Eranda Rothschild Foundation, Google, Facebook and other groups who continue to conceal their true deeper levels of funding and "investments" in future money making markets, behind a veil of pretence toward helping the "poor". You know those poor misguided souls yet to fully embrace the "freedoms" of economic servitude and high work/production levels for their own good.
One thing "Muslims" and "The Right" referred to here do have in common (and why they are drawn together by this particular group) is the innate understanding of the true nature and intentions of these "Elites" and their determination to ostracise and contain any individual/group belief sets and ideals potentially interrupting their pursuit of market growth, monetary growth and labour force control and indeed effective human asset ownership.
Of course what might happen if these were simply left to live their own lives and lead them as they see fit themselves entirely, is another question altogether.
Certainly the Australian Aborigines have enjoyed being forcibly "educated" and "lifted" free from the restraints of their "uneducated" and "poor" cultural life styles and beliefs. I'm sure they thank their lucky stars the likes of the Rothschild's and market economies expanded their minds and controlled their own cultural resistance, just ask Adam Goodes.
It's just more ownership and taking out of potential "Rothschild & Friends" resistance.
You're not even scratching the surface.

Half of it is being promoted by politicians and the media pushing their own agenda. Took all but a second before politicians and the media starting pointing fingers at Trump and then the second amendment. Then how every conservative should be banned, ban gab, ban 4chan, ban everyone so we can make more echo chambers and create more of a divide. That's a good way to cut out the extremists...by pushing more impressionable people to them :drunk:. The media couldn't care less about the incidents or that they are helping to increase the prevalence. They just want a story, some clicks, and some money.

Also, while doing that make sure you sweep other stuff under the rug. Ban PJW from social media for highlighting the double standards in France and the lack of reporting when it comes to attack on all things Christian.

Be sure to down play the Sri Lanka Easter bombings by calling them 'Easter Worshippers' and get others to call it 'islamaphobia' if you suggest they were responsible...despite Islamic terrorists being responsible...

When I hear people talking about "the elites" running things I'm comforted that that doesn't apply to Australia because there is nothing at all elite about Scott Morrison.

Well now that's true.

An orangutan with a frontal lobotomy and a pack-a-day smoking habit could have beat Shorten.

Oh, and in case you are wondering....

Holy s**t.

You went from acknowledging a report about dangerous populist ideology, to an unhinged rant about the easter worshipper stuff within the same post.

The radicalisation of a the middle class in the US specifically we are seeing isn't in fact a response to muslim extremism, is it a symptom of the global economic recession specifically and the short comings of Neo-liberal capitalism broadly. We didn't see the emergence of these right wing populists straight after 9/11 or even 10 years after, around the time of the GFC is when the radicalisation began to occur.

You guys need to begin to think about the real forces that are affecting your everyday lives, its simple realisation. Im not saying rage at anyone but just start to take stock of the systematic forces being applied to you. If you begin to list them in terms of importance and real life influence islam will be very low on your list.

Maybe not in Australia but parts of Europe are another story.

But this thread is about the threat from right wingers. It would rank much lower on your list.

While they’re raging at muslims and political correctness, they’ll vote in neo lib parties. The system goes on.

lol.. not surprised he wrote this. Has no idea what goes on in the world other than when a brown person does something. Have not seen him once in any thread when a white person does a heinous crime, but as soon as it's a black person or islamic terrorism he's off the chain.

Who read the report?
A group of researchers from the Institute of Strategic Dialogue monitored 4chan.

After months of research, they came to the same conclusion any moron with an internet connection could have in about 20 minutes.

CEO of ISD, Sasha Havlicek (Her pronouns are her and they) said the problem of right wing extremism required 'innovative solutions.'

Thanks Sasha.

After a brainstorming session, the think tankers over at ISD came up with a much sexier solution...

Drum roll please...

Proactive, globally coordinated response.

I read the report in conjunction with the footnotes. Among other things it taught me a couple of new terms that I had never heard of. The methodology seemed a bit off and they didn't put much time into explaining the limitations of the research. Probably give it a pass as an undergrad assignment.

'Grey zone'

I think they also use other buzzwords like 'ecosystems' in nearly every report.

Anytime you get 'innovative solutions' or 'proactive globally coordinated' you are being sold a lemon.

The left are gullible though. Money for jam.

Deserves a C- at best.

The authors claim that the volume of tweets about the term "Great Replacement" has steadily increased since 2012. But their own data shows discussion of the Great Replacement on Twitter remained fairly flat between 2015 and 2018. Then, of course, it spiked after the Christchurch massacre with the accompanying manifesto, but has since tailed off to previous levels.

The authors acknowledge that mention of the term "Great Replacement" in a tweet is not a definitive measure that more individuals are engaging with the conspiracy. For example, people could be arguing against such ideas, or arguing against articles that claim more individuals are engaging with the conspiracy.

They have not baselined their data against more general Twitter stats. In 2012 Tweet growth rate was around 100% per annum. The growth rate is still around 30% per annum. Any trend that is flat during recent years is actually diminishing in real terms.

The authors like to bundle the numbers up to a grand total of tweets between 2012 and 2019. This includes the huge one-off spike in 2018. But excluding 2018 the numbers for the term "Great Replacement" are about 10,000 per year. To put this into perspective Twitter is currently running at about 200 billion tweets per year.

They claim that term "remigration" has strongly increased since mid-2014. Again they bundle up the annual figures, which includes the 2014 launch of the Twitter account @Remigration. They acknowledge that this one account is responsible for nearly all the tweets mentioning "remigration". It used the term over 20 times more than the second most active account.

Chief started one of these Nazis, Nazis Everywhere! threads off the back of a buzzfeed article once. Standards haven't improved much.

Shandog has put in a power of work trying to drag this board into the 21st century, but we still have a ways to go.

Might be an idea for posters to actually read studies/research/reports before they hit the Post Thread button.

I doubt many even read past the headline. "Great Replacement" "remigration"

The language used was quite strange IMO.
