Seems to be going very unnoticed.

Brisbane are what we were supposed to be. Top 4 bolters
And we are what they are supposed to be. Knocking on the door of finals, but not quite there.

:(
its an indictment they jumped us.

They’ve had a better run with injuries

Is it?

Their core has been together longer, they’ve got more experience in general and in finals than we do, have accumulated more high draft picks and they’ve basically got no injuries.

We also flogged the hell out of them

Someone swallowed the party line

What makes you think that?

Is it that they're in the top 4, brilliantly coached to play a committed brand of football that lasts 4 quarters and carries no passengers, and they effectively develop and reward their young talent?
2016. It took the suspension of half our list to get us below them. And only just.
2017, they finished last
2018, bottom 4.
Currently top 4 and tracking to stay there.

That summary of yours beautifully illustrates where we fail and they succeed

Let's hold back on Fagan as a brilliant coach.

The reason we shredded the Lions is because they're not playing a sustainable system, soldier in and soldier out, as much as they are a talented, confident team playing purposeful, confident football.

There are stacks of reasons that happens and many examples of side taking advantage of good draws, etc and then being found out.

None of that means Fagan is not the next master but he's hardly rethought the game in the way the best coaches of the last 20 years have.

Brisbane remind me a little of early-Kern Port - shackles off preceding wheels off by a year or three. Great fun while it lasts though.

Fair call on system. A good run with injuries too is helping.

But in man management terms there's no doubt he's excelling. Brisbane had been an absolute rabble for ten years. Immediately pre-Fagan they were neck with the Suns in their inability to attract and keep talent.

No Melbourne club (even St Kilda and Norf) can compare to the two Queensland clubs when it comes to irrelevance. Brisbane don't even have a home base for training. Imagine Essendon training at Port Melbourne on Tuesdays, Williamstown on Wednesdays and Werribee on Thursdays!

If the coaching & leadership at GC and Brisbane is not spot on they will leak players. You can tell right now that Fagan has Brisbane players in the palm of his hand. Massive achievement considering his starting point.

Not the same as the traditional definition of people living together, so I would say no.

Think I’d rather donate money to someone to help feed their kids or protect them from violence, than someone getting a ******* laptop to post footy related material. First world problems hey

I'd chip in some $$$ if Cupido4lyfe needed to replace a dead video editing suite

Brisbane are doing very well at the moment, no doubt about that. But saying “they have gone past us” is very silly at this point.

Has Melbourne gone past us? 12 months ago we all would have said yes. Now they are looking at a bottom 4 finish.

I know it has been frustrating being an Essendon supporter for the last 15 years. But, this “woe is us” attitude doesn’t help either. Give it time. In Three years time, we could be reaping the rewards of the patience.

All of Geelong, West Coast, Collingwood, Richmond and GWS (yep, even after yesterday) would be hoping like hell to get Brisbane in the first week of the finals.

I am predicting it will all unravel very quickly. They would also be quite vulnerable in a home Semi Final the following week (if they finish top 4).

Fantastic turnaround and season for them so far, all credit to them. But they are at least a couple of years off seriously challenging the upper echelon.
