We’d better not lose Papley. He’s one of the few genuinely classy players we have. Jones will be no big loss if he goes. He can break a line and that’s great but his footy IQ is poor. Would be stoked to get something good back for him tbh.

Cunningham is quality depth but very replaceable. Wouldn’t be a big loss.

Why he was available and should have been punted on as a rookie selection. Back the team culture to improve him (if needed), or cut him after a year. Like Richmond did. A 100k gamble to me is ALL upside potential, with very little downside.
Only our need for someone in that role was (and is) absolutely acute. Theirs - not at all so.

There must be some history as others have said that scared clubs off. He wasn’t taken in any of the 2018 drafts at all. He was added to Richmond’s rookie list on February.

So literally no clubs took a punt on him in the draft.

So I think it’s more that Stack has proved everyone wrong as opposed to our recruiters specifically doing a poor job.

So we went after Moore and Langdon last year to fill this hole and release Mills and we didn’t land them. We got Thurlow across as another attempt to cover, turns out he is not good enough for that role.

Grundy early retirement, Maibaum season has further exacerbated the ideal of moving him to the mids.

What do you do.

mills intercept marking is such a strength , he is also fearless going back etc, i think I'd rather dawson lloyd move to the middle more than mills on a permanent basis

what i would like to see is mills to the middle if things arent working mid game at the very least


mills heeney etc wont go anywhere unless absolutely necessary, would seem to go against the arguement for academy picks to trade the graduates out

IMO we have all the youngsters we need. Use our first high draft pick in years to trade in a proven talent who we won't have to wait 4-5 years for their best. Richmond in 17 and Brisbane this year are proof that just one or two extra guns can rocket you up the ladder pretty quickly.

and if we want to use buddy effectively at all, and even guys like rampe parker etc in their prime, we would be better to add proven talent

shuffling more unproven kids and spending a few years being shit wont achieve much

Yep agree, and it's also the key to getting the kids to do better. They will improve if they have better standards around them set by experienced players who are actually in form. The experienced players we have in the team right now aren't much.. Cunningham who is good but not great, Reid is meh, Jack is done, JPK is banged up, Lloyd is drunk. And the other experienced guys we brought in like Thurlow and Menzel aren't even doing much in the NEAFL.
