Yep agree, and it's also the key to getting the kids to do better. They will improve if they have better standards around them set by experienced players who are actually in form. The experienced players we have in the team right now aren't much.. Cunningham who is good but not great, Reid is meh, Jack is done, JPK is banged up, Lloyd is drunk. And the other experienced guys we brought in like Thurlow and Menzel aren't even doing much in the NEAFL.

been a while since a mattner or shaw type was recruited

menzel Thurlow Clarke worth a punt , but were basically rejects , arguably could of just kept robinson towers marsh

mills intercept marking is such a strength , he is also fearless going back etc, i think I'd rather dawson lloyd move to the middle more than mills on a permanent basis

what i would like to see is mills to the middle if things arent working mid game at the very least

mills heeney etc wont go anywhere unless absolutely necessary, would seem to go against the arguement for academy picks to trade the graduates out
Lloyd back to wing, totally agree and I personally think Dawson will go guts.

As I said a few days back, we've completely lost our ability to find any diamonds in the rough. Whoever is in charge of assessing these players talents can go IMO.

I just think some on here are focused too much on blaming the younger players for where we're at, but to me I look at the experienced players who are supposed to be setting the example for these youngsters . Reid - not good enough. Cunningham - good but not great. Jack - cooked. JPK - looking mortal and if he's not cooked then he's currently undergoing a light searing. Lloyd - assuming he's had 6 pints before every game this year.

Lloyd I can forgive because OK, you're allowed a down season or too and he's been excellent up to this point. But the others, that's four experienced players we could get rid of to bring in experienced players who are actually in form and can do more for us than just be serviceable players.

nah i want no responsbility , senior role please :p

but on topic, who can we poach from gws, already in nsw living

guys like mattner shaw jolly boltom mumford etc were good players at their clubs, maybe starved of opportunity or a bit down but not basically heading for delisting,

not sure why we cant target a few

I think in recent times we've focused more on youth and going to the draft. Which is fine, we now have a plethora of young players we can work with going forward. But enough now, gotta look elsewhere for talent or we'll just end up in a constant game of waiting for 18-22 year olds to develop and hit their prime.

focused on overpaying people like tippett

Yep we've made some absolute blues in who we've kept, who we've brought in and who we've got rid of.

Have the chance now while we're at the bottom with not much to lose to rectify it and build the next top Swans side

OMG, Lloyd is looking like B2B Bobby’s (Parker will give him a run) and he’s having a down season?

A lot of rubbish talked on here that fluctuates as we go on losing or winning streaks. Remember, things are never as bad as they seem and things are never as good as they seem.

Need to accept that we are in a rebuild with some exciting young talent on board that will take time to develop. Last year was a significant end of season where we bit the bullet and moved on some highly paid players and dealt with the Tippett salary cap drain. For the first time in 6 or 7 years we have plenty of cap space and we only have two more years of Buddy's big salary ($500k in 2022) so we can now look to back end contracts to coincide with that.

Reckon it will be fairly predictable and sensible trade and draft period, I just wondering what number Stephen Coniglio will wear for us.
