People in the USA also believe their society is very ethnically and culturally diverse. The US ranks better than Australia but still ranked 85 in the world.

If you're judging diversity on the basis of purely being diverse it seems a quite meaningless ranking, particularly given I had a cursory glance at the top 3 ranked countries on that list and noted that one was recently in the news for clan violence, one is undergoing a civil war and the third borders one of the others. Australians actually co-exist with other ethinicies and we do it better than Europe, not to mention almost every other place on earth.
