Retired #45: Conor McKenna ☘️ - Returning to the AFL to play with Brisbane - 17/11

My initial thoughts were "who gets married in footy season?".

I then thought "well I guess it isn't footy season in Ireland".

Play on. Unfortunate for us, but that's all it is.
One of our other players sisters got married on an Anzac weekend. That way she could guarantee he would be able to make it.

Recent history says any of our players relatives could get married any time after ~7th September. I hope that recent history is about to change and push that date back 3 or 4 weeks.

Nah I reckon there is quite a few of us.

Nope. Sounds like this has been known and planned for awhile.

The opposition is irrelevant.
We did the same thing for David Hille if I recall correctly.

Completely fine with it, some things are just more important than one game of footy.

An Irish wedding. I’m guessing he’ll be returning with a decent hangover.
He will be absolutely smashed all weekend and then flying 24 hours.
Surely at risk of injury if he plays the week after. Or of being very average and off the pace.

Or is that just older bodies? Can you do that sort of stuff in your early 20s and get away with it?
