No ridiculous at all. If he wants out then I would rather play one of the youngsters who are committed. If Geelong want him the we make them pay a premium for a 4 x B&F. Simple.
Why should he stay at sandy? Has he confirmed he wants out? Is he our best player. Will he help us win. I’m surprised you didn’t go down the road you went 2 days ago. It’s amazing that a few continue to say he isn’t an automatic in once declared fit yet whinge that we only let him go if we get a good deal. Can’t thpse see they are opposite thoughts. Confusing

OMG - Do you actually read? I said IFDo you think that should apply to every player who the media suggest want out including Carlisle. Do you think we should have dropped Steven last year when it was said in the media he wanted out. Do you trust everything written in the media.
Steven for a start. Maybe I will play. You just don’t get it do you. He is sick. Do you say to a person with a hammy I’m sick of him saying he can’t play because he is injured. Please read up on mental illness Forget to pick up his wage?Yep I've changed my tune on Stevens. Had enough of his maybe I'll leave, maybe I won't, maybe I'll play, maybe I won't. I bet he doesn't forget to pick up his huge wage. Sandy for the rest of the year and then trade him for whatever we can get.
Yes so how do we know? Apparently he wanted to leave last year. That seems fact. Should we have dropped him last year when that was mentioned.OMG - Do you actually read? I said IF
Of course it is.Geelong will look on this with interest.
Saying Jack has a mental illness will materially impact what we get as a trade.
If he is that unwell, it is a huge risk for Geelong. He may get worse and not play at all.
Why should Geelong pay out big for a player past his best with mental illness issues?
Don't want to sound harsh, but we say its a business, surely this is a factor for Geelong
so you're happy to force a guy with mental illness to sit out for a year so so we can get a winning trade?
This has the potential to get very ugly unless there’s considerable goodwill by all parties.I think context is very important in this discussion.
Is he leaving because his mental health issues demand that he must be in Geelong or otherwise it will be detrimental to his health? Because then it is up to BOTH clubs to find a deal to satisfy both parties to do what's best for Jack's health.
Or is he leaving because Geelong have chased him to replace Kelly for one last premiership tilt and he would rather go play for them? Because then thats bad lack because he is contracted and Geelong need to pay up to get him.
And article that came out today suggested that Geelong are the ones desperately chasing after him, so in that case, the club needs to be strong and not get rolled over by the club with the never ending salary cap.
He has missed footy due to mental health issues not because he wanted a holiday It may not be terrible for him sitting out but it’s clearly terrible for us. Wasted money. Wasted pick. And the media would be all over it. No way would the club let it happenHe'd be getting paid near enough to a million bucks to do nothing.
Hardly a terrible situation for a bloke who has shown he has needed long breaks away from football.
Also- as others have said, mental health issues aren't the same as mental illness.
He's not been reported to have a mental illness.
Yep he is open to a move if he can get a gig
Say we lose a running player in Jack Steven to Geelong, who do we replace him with?
Maybe we could chase Shai Bolton from Richmond, has pace, now plays in the midfield & has years on his side to improve.
Thoughts?
When ex-coaches of the club say this, it doesn't do much to hose down speculation about the signing:
The problem I have with this is being told a move to Geelong will somehow solve his problems. He has missed footy due to mental health issues not because he wanted a holiday It may not be terrible for him sitting out but it’s clearly terrible for us. Wasted money. Wasted pick. And the media would be all over it. No way would the club let it happen
I love this - this is such a classic example of 2020's "journalistic" nonsense and in one tweet explains why we have Donald Trump, Boris Johnson and Scott Morrison as leaders of western "democracies".
It exposes the absolute inability of a large amount of people to identify absolute media fiction and exposes the complete incapacity of many to engage in any form of critical thinking.
Someone tweets and says " A caller on the radio said that Hannebery got to St Kilda without a medical" and Thomas replies - 'that's consistent to what I've heard."
I reckon GT's a prankster who can't believe the crap people ask him and that he's simply agreeing that - yep he's heard that some d*** rang a radio station and ask a completely inane question.
Living with his family might have a lot to do with that and being around his real mates not footy mates. The problem I have with this is being told a move to Geelong will somehow solve his problems.
No way 3 soft outside mids will get us finals... our problem is getting the ball first..
Living with his family might have a lot to do with that and being around his real mates not footy mates.
It's the middle ground that's a worryThere's plenty of media fiction on the left. It's not solely a right wing issue.
And that's all I'm saying.Living with his family might have a lot to do with that and being around his real mates not footy mates.
I know we appear to have a plethora of half backs, but would we entertain the idea of targeting Riley Bonner?
A younger version of Shane Savage & would be the right age for when we are challenging.
You can’t play footy and train and drive 4 hours a day. I’ve already said he can stand out of footy and won’t effect him but not trading him will effect us.Noones forcing him to be an AFL footballer.
Also, what's the commute from the folks shack to training? 2 hours?
4 hours a day commute sucks, but I know plenty of people that do that for a lot less than a million clams a year
