I'm assuming alot ?

I honestly don't know but I did hear that heaps of coke, most of what comes into the country, moves thru Bali to Australia (and SE Asia) from South America via someone who would have known. The guy married into some Peruvian criminal family and ... well anyway he's been dead for years so it doesn't really matter. I can't ask him. Basically no one expects coke to come in from Bali so it travels via a few destinations to Bali then moves straight to some countries, including Australia.

Not as much as what the US get through Canada

Is that a route? The US and cocaine is pretty convoluted.

Ever read this?

Its a rave about Barry Seal - CIA pilot and Cocaine smuggler extraordinaire who was an important part of the Iran Contra/Drugs for arms for hostages deal that helped get Reagan elected. I dunno how much is true and how much of it is bullshit but some of this stuff was corroborated over the years. Mostly by journos who then committed suicide - Danny Casolaro and Gary Webb iirc. Interesting that Webb was found by a coroner to have committed suicide after being found with two gunshot wounds to the head and Casolaro was found in a bath with a stupid number of slashes across both wrists, dunno what was in his blood at the time either.

Excellent pod with Ricky Gervais who is always interesting and never boring.

Love his comments on our binary world and social media in particular.

Holy heck, Ricky Gervais on Sam Harris?! Will have to check this out.

Very odd meeting of the worlds.

I wrote a big whinge on a blog about it once. While I approve of killing the Jonas brothers as a general principle, at almost the exact moment Obama made this joke:

Predator drones were killing underage kids in backwater Pakistan. (The Jonas brothers were u18 at the time iirc.)

fu** Obama.

Before we get too dismissive there needs to be more discussion about this killing the Jonas brothers concept.

Lou Gramms Midnight Blue popped up in an iTunes Music random list the other day

Rockin song; what a voice

I doubt I'd thought of that song for 30 years till you mentioned it. I actually have a soft spot for it. Around the time it came out I was in Fiji with one tape that had that song, the brilliant, if corny as, soundtrack to a creepy B Grade movie called Streets of Fire and some other random music on it. It was all i had to listen to for 3 weeks except Hindi music and the soundtrack to Highlander from the actual video. (At the time there were no tv stations in Fiji but VCRs had just appeared and so everyone had TVs to watch rental movies on. If you think movie rentals were big in Australia in the mid 80s then you should have seen Fiji.) It sounded good at the time but I haven't listened to it or that soundtrack since.

The link just popped up on my twitter & I'm unashamed to say I know sfa about the bloke, but will check him out further.

Wow really? He was in The Office, Extras, quite a few average films, hosted the Golden Globes and once had a really good podcast with Stephen Merchant and Karl Pilkington before he got properly famous.

Edit: oh you meant the other guy

Hang on so you mean an audio recording of all the sound and music during the film, not the official Queen soundtrack?

Almost but not even an audio recording. Just the songs from the movie on the video!!! When I needed to listen to some music I'd stick that video on and fast forward it to the musical bits. :drunk:

To be fair (and I'm biased) you picked a good film to extract the music from.

BTW What sort of name is Lou Gramms. No sus drug references there.

Lou Gramm. Gramms was his bigfooty name when he fell out of favour after playing too many new tracks at once during a gig in Hobart.

Lol. Not a racist cell in my body.

If you call another human an "illegal" then as far as i'm concerned you are.

People aren't "illegal".

They might commit illegal acts. But a person is NOT by definition illegal.

****en hell.

Don't want to niggle the humanitarian nature of your post there ferbs, but that would make GG "clinical" or "inhuman" rather than racist.

If he referred to one group of illegal immigrants as "illegals" and another equivalent group under a more favourable term then there could be an element of racism.

Or he's not using as much speed as he was in Hobart.

I reckon Highlander is a great movie. Its not perfect but its a great adventure. My old man grew up on a cane farm in Fiji and had me using machetes and other bladed tools to mow the lawn as a young kid, as a form of training.

When I was in Fiji at the farm i'd watch bits of Highlander then spend hours practising what I saw with cane knives and machetes and whatever else they had with a blade. It was pretty boring inland. I used to go diving at every opportunity but there's not many Coral reefs in the Ba river.

It's a safe bet you probably did a better Scottish accent than Lambert and a far better Greek one than Connery too.

Weirdest bit of casting for nationality ever - "here you'll play a character of X origin but please make almost no effort to sound authentic".

Those cane knife skills will hold you in good stead if you ever want to attend a Collingwood intraclub.

I'm fairly sure I've seen him type that very thing. That's why i found it irritating.
