Yep. Got my ticket. Looking forward to it.

Don't know how I missed it. Asked some of the band guys and sure enough a couple are catching up with Dark Funeral before the show for a few beers. ******* hell. I'm not interested in being a groupie so I think I might just go to lurk. Usually talk the missus into coming along to these things but she's really not interested this time. I think I'll just go an stand in a corner on my own with my arms folded.

Richmond might be playing.

Immolation is the reason I am going. I think DF will be a decent live act though. Agree regarding socialising with bandmembers. All good if you actually know them otherwise wide berth material for me. See you in the Starbucks next door for a black coffee preshow. Haha.

October Tide ‘Rain Without End’.

Possibly should have been released as a Katatonia album and would sit perfectly between DoDS & BMD. Good to hear Jonas doing harsh vocals for the last(?) time.

Anyone else going? Tempting, and it's a Saturday.

Got my ticket pretty quick. It'll be the third time seeing Dark Funeral, second time Immolation (that's the gig where we couldn't find each other almost three years ago).

Same venue? Reception is non-existent in that joint and I usually give up trying to connect to interwebs

Yep, it was at Max Watts.

Gorgoroth - Incipit Satan.

The experimentation that ran through Gorgoroth's career took a very different turn with this album, which marks the last release where Infernus was the main songwriter until post the name dispute.

There's electronic, ambient and symphonic aspects here, mixed in with a crushing guitar tone employed by Infernus and Tormentor, and greater use of melody. There's some flickers of excellence here, notably when the focus is either on the crushing tone or melody, but overall this is probably the weakest Gorgoroth album, and a long way from the template set with Pentagram. It's hard to believe the same band released both albums. I'm reminded in parts of Mayhem post-reunion, though I wouldn't compare this album in quality to something like Wolf's Lair Abyss.

There are riffs that verge on blackened death metal on places, that provide a very early hint of the direction that Gorgoroth would take years later with Instinctus Bestialis, but Incipit Satan represents the nadir of the band's output. Gaahl's vocal performance on this album is decent, and he does improve on subsequent releases, but it's hard to compare him to the excellent black metal vocalist that preceded him in Pest.

Ramones - Animal Boy.

Not metal, but agree with this assessment - THE greatest live album ever.

Probably prefer Loco Live. Haha. Saw them on the 94 tour - one of the best shows I've seen. Spine tingling when TGTBTU theme came on.

Loco live is great too, and obviously much broader setlist but its alive is like a perfect time capsule imo.
I first saw them as a young whippersnapper in 89, and it was so good it was religious haha.

Anyway back to more metallic stuff, listening to MA blessed are the sick for the first time in ages. Great stuff, and the bit in 'abominations' where they put the whdhdjdgshsjdjjs(?!) effect on the vocals ("bow down before the master...") still makes me laugh all these years later :D

I was too young for the 89 tour. Bet it was religious. Was allowed to go to 91 if a friend was with me but none wanted to go. Would have been awesome. Just scrapped in with 94 tour but got to see them so cannot complain.
