Martin makes them a 3-4 goal better side

Should make tomorrow pretty bloody even

It tips the balance it to our side considerably as games are won and lost in the midfield.

There must be more than soreness keeping Martin out.

Richmond depth been talked up for years now by their supporters, surely having a couple like Martin and Cotchin out (equivalent to Cripps & Docherty for us earlier this year) they should account for a bottom 4 team? If only we had Charlie, Docherty, Marchbank....I'd be more confident....:p

Just took a quick look at the tiges preview thread...they’re a cocky bunch. Still clearly drinking their own bath water after 1 flag in like 40 years. Forgot why they’re the most feral team in the comp.

Really hope their players come in just as cocky tomorrow and underestimate us. If they do we will beat them, especially in the midfield.

We’re missing three superstars. You’re missing one elite HBF who hasn’t played in two years, one potential superstar and a serviceable young defender.

By your logic, Gold Coast losing Touk Miller, Alex Sexton and Jarrod Harbrow is like West Coast missing Mitch McGovern, Elliot Yeo and Josh Kennedy.
Given the nature of the outs compared to the overall strength of the teams, it’s not as different as you’d like us to believe.

Agree with this assessment. Weagles moved from back to front seamlessly, while we (despite having enough entries), seemed to do so through a somewhat scattergun approach.

This cohesions / connection should hopefully come as they grow and gel.
The "scatter gun" approach was a result of pressure appled by west coast upfield. We got picked off by the west coast defense because we had one tall forward on many occasions . When we were allowed to settle we were able find the angles going forward and allow the small and mids to get involved. Not sure if Richmond will allow us to settle coming into attack. Thier game is built on defensive pressure and turn overs. Two tall targets will split their defence. They don't even have to mark, just control the drop of the ball for our mids and smalls to swoop on or force a stoppage. There will imo be a lot of rushed kicks into the forward 50. Not necessarily to a leading forward

I have no idea what you're talking about. You're going to have to be a lot clearer.
Theres lots to consider rather than your line "lost to a doper".

That doper got votes in games depriving others of votes. That doper played teams twice which deprived teams of votes twice.

The whole voting system was compromised for that year not just because of Jobe but the whole Essendon team.

Another view would be to disqualify any games the dopers played.

In the end, a tainted season is a tainted season. Cotchin and Mitchells medals will always have an asterisk in many people's views. And rightly so.
