So much good coming out of a lot of players at the moment. Gotta give mention to the change in Cam Rayner. He has really stepped it up a notch lately. Really commanding displays when he gets the ball in hand. The more touches he gets moving forward the better off we will be. He has September Specialist written all over him.

Was really good to see Marcus Adams playing good footy. Lots of intercept marks. If he's building into the peak form that he's shown at the Bulldogs in the past we could win the whole thing. Peak Adams, Gardiner and Andrews is a very very good defence.

Will just say as well, starting to get a bit melancholy that this season will be over soon. Has been incredible. Even after that west coast game in round 1 I didn't expect this.

As long as adelaide put up a decent fight against West coast we're heading to our final game of the season with it being sold out, 1st vs 2nd.

We're slight favourites on sportsbet.
Adams was great. He really lifted after the first quarter and played his part well. I don’t think he is much better than Lester, but he deserves his spot. It’s good for us that we have such amazing depth in our reserves. Having Lester, Walker, Keays, Bastinac and to a lesser extent Robertson, Cutler and Taylor means we can cover losses to our frontline players.

I hope Rayner can ‘turn it on’ before September, but the next two weeks are a massive test for him. The Geelong and Richmond games are as much like finals as we are going to see in the home and away season, including one at the MCG. There’s no point gilding the lily, if Rayner can’t perform over the next two weeks, his place in the Finals side will rightly be under scrutiny. He was our lowest ranked player again yesterday.

Don't get me wrong Lester has been good this season but Marcus Adams is going past Ryan Lester at a rate of knots, he's already past him and he will be a huge upgrade on Ryan when at his best which probably wont be till 2020 when we are going for back to back.

Lester and most of the others you mentioned will be fantastic depth going forward.

Possibly a few of those mentioned may not be at the club I don’t think Walker will be with the club next year with Payne signing until 2022 I would not rule out payne next year a vgood one v one defender with great speed which he showed yesterday and fages gave him a wrap in a recent interview also can see a role for skinner and hope he is extended over eagles

I’d like to see Walker get another year. I like the fact that he can replace Andrews at one end or Hipwood at the other in the event of injury. He’s still only relatively young too, given his experience.

You’ve got to be joking.Adams has Lester covered by the length of the Flemington straight.Massive upgrade.12 marks last night the majority of them intercepts from a player in his 5th(?) game for the year.Lester while he played a couple of games this year to a standard I didn’t think he had in him, has still been out of the top team 3 times this year.Once through injury and twice dropped because of not form/not best 22.Agree he is good depth but to say he is not much better than Adams is just mind boggling.

Rayner had more disposals and more dreamteam points than 10 suns players ,13 disposals is quite reasonable for a small forward, someone has to finish last in rankings. there is no doubt Fagan has had his side for the finals in his head for quite some time hence Adams being brought in ahead of other players who had probably been performing better in the NEAFL ,he will stick with this team for the rest of the year baring injury and I for one am happy to go with his decisions and enjoy the ride.

I think Lester has Adams covered in disposal efficiency, but what Adams adds in intercept marking and the ability to outbody and spoil players both tall and small is immense and will go a long way to us competing against teams like Geelong, Richmond and West Coast.

I want to talk about the evasiveness of Hugh McCluggage. I'd like to know how many times he walked backwards out of a tackle to break it last night. Had me shaking my head in wonder a few times. He's always shown great spatial awareness and an ability to get himself out of a contest in a few steps, but I feel like he has made that tackle breaking ability a real feature of his game lately. Such a pleasure to watch the development in him!

That’s fine, but Rayner didn’t play as a small forward exclusively. As I said, the next two weeks are going to be a massive test for him and I hope he passes it with flying colours. The last thing we want is for Rayner to become our “Neon Leon” if we are playing in a Preliminary or Grand Final. The next two weeks against quality opposition give Rayner a chance to stamp his authority against teams we will probably meet in September.

Hugh McCluggage’s Theme Song.

McCluggage busts some of these moves as he weaves through packs and kicks goals.

Felt like we never really got out of 2nd gear.

We are also not a ruthless team yet. A ruthless team would have limited them to around 30 points.

I swear he went to a new level last night. He was insanely good. Darryl White style evading 3 guys at once!

Someone with better IT skills than me or the Club should put together a clip of McCluggage waltzing through heavy traffic kicking goals and setting up teammates to the MC Hammer song. It would be PERFECT.

I think Jarrod Berry’s form over the last few weeks is being sorely missed by supporters. It sounds a bit ridiculous but with our current midfield he doesn’t stand out from the pack but his work at the coal face and on the spread has really added to our team. Loved his goal last night as well.

We supporters tend to salivate over breakaway speed as to the eye it looks better/sexier but the agility/evasiveness is a facet of players/draftees that needs to be taken into account. As other draftee watchers can attest too Hugh is just showing what he was doing as a junior and in his draft year Andrew McGrath came from nowhere really and at the national champs showed breakaway speed. I known which player out of those two I would want. Hugh is starting to get some coverage in the media but the way he is tracking will be spoken about as one of the elite midfielders in the coming years.

Yes having 2 elite intercept defenders will be good.

Also has there ever been a better incoming trade quartet than Lachie Neale, Jarryd Lyons, Lincoln McCarthy and Marcus Adams in the one off season, me thinks not.
The other club I support Richmond traded in Prestia, Caddy and Nankervis at the end of 2016, that led to a flag in 2017. Hopefully this has a similar happy ending. I'm hoping for a Richmond/Brisbane GF.
