It was Ross finally playing Matera in his natural role. Effort was always there.

There was an interview from matera earlier in the season (pre-the bye) which contractics this - he said his uncle had a chat to him at end of last season - told him he wasnt fit enough or working hard enough and it spurred him on to put in the biggest off season of his career (included him training over the usual holiday break). He claimed that was why he was so much better this year.

McCarthy needs to work out he needs to do similar or his will end up playing for peel

I disagree. Again I don't think Ross is getting the best out of Cam.

If/when we get another coach there will be no surprises if Cam goes a bit better than he does now.

stringer is hardly a good example - it's just come out last couple of weeks (and was kept very quiet prior to this) that he was battling a 7 yr gambling addiction.

It sounds like this and relationship issues was causing him a lot of headaches when he was at the dogs.

Cam obviously has some sort of mental health issues going on considering he didn't play 1 year when GWS woulnd't trade him to freo first time. He just needs to commit to footy 100% and things will get easier for him. He barracked for freo as a youngster, it would be great if he could turn the corner and become the 40+/year regular goal scorer we are craving

But the Dogs and Essendon picked Stringer because he kicked goals and helped win them games. You take the good with the bad with mercurial players. Ours is playing WAFL because Ross doesn’t understand that.

There's not many players that have zero issues. That's what people management and being a coach/leader is all about. Getting the best out of people. It's debatable that's currently the case.

We've lost those games because of dumb footy.

We are still the experts of needing to work what seems like twice as hard as the other team to get the same stuff done.

When we bring 'great effort' we can make up for that it seems but such a draining way to have to play.
