Lol at the standard of the comp. * you Gillion. Even just looking at the current top 4, the top 2-3 sides of not even that long ago, would make an awful, awful mess of this current comp.
There's not the extremely good/elite type of sides anymore (yeah the flag wasn't as open, but at-least there was some seriously good footy played occasionally). Lucky we got the GF we did last year, because it's been one of only a handful of games in the last 2 years that has remotely memorable.

The comp has evened out to the standard of the lower teams, rather than lift to the standard of the better teams...there's just not the talent pool for 18 sides, hope like * the talk of adding more teams doesn't happen for a long time. Hoping the talent pool will start to catch up and this is just a lull for the sport not the new norm.

Pros: Should be able rebuild quickly if you're semi competent, even competition.
Cons: Even when you're good you still play pretty ordinary footy, standard of the competition is absolute rubbish (even the close ones are forgettable affairs).

Agree 100%

Equalisation has ruined the game

3 games this round where a team has gone into half-time on 1 goal. 4/5 of the other games have had a team go in at the half with 4 or less goals.

What is the point in the flag being open to anyone if the 23 weeks to get there is a ******* nightmare

i can recall five high standard years

1909 18 33 2005 2012

Actually in 2005 we were one of the worst premiership sides seen in quite some time. It was a fairly weak year as the Lions' dominance had ended the year before and the Cats hadn't emerged as a contender yet.
