A lot of overreacting on here.

We played the best team in the comp on their favourite ground in their favourite conditions. We started the game with a structure that wasn't going to work and were on the back foot from then on.

Teague made the changes and we dominated for large periods of the second half. It was our finishing that hurt us in the end.

Anyone that's crying foul about today's display needs a reality check. Given the last goal was clearly after the siren, we are 4 goals away from the best in the business. Thats a far cry from where we were earlier this season.

Keep your head people.

Umm not to be technical or anything, but we were 4-5 goals away at the very start of the season under Bolton, so not sure how losing by about the same margin today suggests we are a far cry from where we were earlier this season.

I don’t like using a comparison of losing margins against the same team to determine if we have improved a lot or not, but if you are going to use that metric then I had to point out that both times we played hem this year was about the same losing margin.

It’s not that we lost to two top teams, it’s the way we have played the last couple of weeks against those top teams that causes my reservations.

Instead of the fast ball movement and down the corridor ball movement that Teague started off with, we have regressed to very similar football as we played under Bolton.
Remember we lost by 5 goals to Tigers round one and lost by 5 today even though they had their 2 best kids out.

Teague as coach had no plan to counter or nullify the strength of both west coast and tigers today and as a result we honestly never got into any realistic position all game to be able to cause an upset either of those weeks.

In my opinion (and it could just be me), it seems that Teague went into both games with first thought being to limit the damage of possible beltings to not ruin his coaching chances, rather than first priority being a win but risking a belting of it all went wrong. Like I said just my opinion
I think it may be that the opposition in the last 2 weeks did not let us play the game we want to play this and pressure applied resulted in us going back to old habits. On both occasions a half time tune up resulted in a better effort in the second half. Its hard to kick old habits overnight so when pressure is on you just roost it to get it out of the area.

Decent preseason of practice and mental conditioning added to anew or revamped game plan should see this happen less often.

Yep, we went in too tall, McKay unsighted, needed another small there to keep it in

Not sure the form of any of our smaller types in the VFL warrants AFL selection at the moment.

We were probably too top heavy on the day, but in saying that, I don't see a change that would have made us a better team.

What we really needed was our players playing a tigher role on Jack Graham. Kicking four goals was an exceptional effort on his part, but we shouldn't have allowed it to happen. His first half created the gap that we ultimately weren't able to bridge.

Can we finally drop Lang?!! Kennedy, Dow or Cuningham would have been much better.

On today as a whole, can't fault the effort, came up against a quality side in unfavourable conditions and worked hard, just made crucial mistakes and got some bad luck (2 goals in the dying seconds and some I tersting umiring).

Loved Jack and SPS. Mitch was good but what happened to Mr reliable from a set shot?

I’ve tried and tried to love him, I love how he cracks in hard a few times a match, but gee whiz Kade Simpson is a shocking footballer. Please get a Jack Martin or somebody to replace him.

What are you talking about? The only comment I made today that could be considered negative is that Fisher has had a stinker of a season
7 of the first 12 games he got 20 or more possessions - not sure you are judging his whole season properly

A True Carlton fan (or even a football supporter for that matter) would never make such a ****house comment.

Exactly like saying the Earth is Flat. SMH

Too many blokes scared of the rain and/or not AFL standard.

Lang, Deluca, O'Brien, Fisher should all be worried about their spot in the side. Lang should have his locker cleaned out and shown the door

I've given up on Lang. Lachie, from my observation, really lacked some go in the first half. We know what Fisher can do, lets hope it's third year blues. I like DeLuca, I think he has a real crack and with a full pre season under his belt, I think he could be alright.

Round 1 Richmond played poorly. 4/10 in Hardwick's words. This time they were preparing for a finals tilt, they are in fine form on the way to another flag IMO and played in the wet which they love.

Think you need to calm down a bit.

Are you on other one of these posters that only take notice of the couple of mistakes Simmo might make on occasions??

he's at his best when he's kicking to opposition forwards!! we all know that.........

We have done a fair job of work challenging arguably two of the best teams in the AFL.
We didn't get disgraced and we fought the matches out.
Interesting reading the post match thread. Always seems to be the same cast of characters s****** their nappies and screaming for a change and then there is the same folks trying to do the pacifying and changing the nappies. Cheers to the nappy changers.
Players will have ups and downs and we are still forming as a team. Its one thing to point out players who didn't perform well or get beaten on the day by an oppo playing better. Its another thing to be abusing our boys in blue. Its also implying that the MC, coach, recruitment team don't know what they are doing.
Our boys are all wearing our jumper ffs.

I'm a fairly passive ranter... but some crap just pisses me off

No we and I mean Teague and his assistants allowed Vlaustin to be the spare man for them in the back half, whilst we had an extra on the ball. This was corrected after half time!!! Consequentially we were killed and in the wet it was a bridge too far.
Vlaustin was on McGovern, just exploited his lack of match fitness.

Our runners were essentially non existent today. When they did show up they made really poor decisions and skill errors.
Might want to factor in the wet weather a bit there, but we were winning the contested football battle, but were -40 on uncontested ball.

I'm assuming we had such a high number of contested possessions simply because we had a crap load of handling errors, but that being said, that's not all on the outside mids. On a day like that, we had to play to our strengths and really grind the contests and deliver to our outside specialists.

Instead, we try to beat Richmond at their own game with a slower, taller and less experienced team. What a shock that it didn't work out...
