You posted the same thing in the Ellis thread, do you even watch our games? We smashed them in first possession post clearance which fed our outside run, again a stat we smashed them which again lead to us smashing them in meters gained.

You would think you would know how we play?

We are playing carlton

will it be the same in finals?

furthermore i dont think the plan is to get slaughtered in the contested possession - tbf carlton had an extra player around the ball sometimes

Mate are we playing for good looking team player stats or the win?!?

Its gonna be a problem coming up against kennedy, darling, oscar allen if we dont start winning our own ball .obviously martin and cotchin coming back will be huge.

Yep - Grimes, Vlastuin, Astbury, Houli, Broad are doing a very good job but it seems a bit like fingers in the dyke atm

would be nice to win it a bit more inside

whatever brings the next flag

I thought Jack was well beaten by Jones yesterday. Lunch was serviceable (not quite tasty) but it wasn't his conditions. The Lasagna was putrid when he should have thrived in those conditions, not sure if they drop him though.

Jack and Lunch will really need to be in sync next week. McGovern (a poor mans Rance) will float between the two and try and impact every contest as he does. Jack & Lunch really need to spread well to ensure he needs to pick one way or the other and doesn't get the chance to impact both depending where the kick goes. The midfield needs to be aware of this and enter F50 decisively and not bomb it in if possible, this means the midfield needs that extra second of time & space so needs to be on their A game too.

Rest Dusty forward & deep to make Barras look silly where possible.

In : Cotchin, Dusty, Balta
Out : Ross, Baker, Chol

Unlucky.

I've changed Chol for Balta simply because Balta is another back insurance should we need it v Darling and Kennedy, as well as being a pinch hit in the ruck when required.
I would second these changes, chol has done enough to suggest we persist with him on our list but it's time to give Balta another crack. If not Balta then perhaps it's time to see what nank/soldo looks like in the same team. Baker is stiff to miss but it's probably out of him and short for that spot.

He looks a bit of a fat man's Rance too at times.

I noted with interest yesterday that lunch and j8 often went for the same ball. I like to see some spread also

Mate, we allow sides more often then not first possession, its our game plan. You need to adjust. As to it being carlton, you are not factoring in that it was our 4-5th game in pouring rain, the blokes would have been stuffed. You also seem to focus on contested possession like it was a dry game. There was a s**t ton of stoppages and carlton would have got first hand but then disposed, which bloats the numbers as they played one extra all game, not just sometimes.

IMO you ignore the positives, its our 7th win in a row, we have played games that dont suit talls, which we have 4 off but we have kicked decent scores across all our games in the wet, we had 93 tackles while winning by 6 goals. The guys are switched on, I personally am not stressed at all.

I understand this to a point; I am merely asking how sustainable it is long term and if Dimma actually wants to be losing by this amount - Richmond 17th in contested ball. Its a lot of pressure on Houli, Vlastuin, Asbtury, Grimes as well. Hopfully the can stay resolute until the 4th q of the grand final but its a big ask.

At the end of the day Carlton are meaningless its a future game against a Geelong, WCE type team where the clearances and contested ball might be an issue.

The like of Ross and Graham developing certainly adds hope - i made a thread about it if you want to go into more detail, cheers

How sustainable ? We have done it for 3 years, won a flag and a minor premiership so far. Now we are in the top 4 and a contender for another flag :drunk:

I was frustrated at the ground but I think that was more just sick of being rained on than anything else.

Never been rained on more in my life than I have the last three weeks. Rofl

In the end a 5 goal win was about par for the course in those conditions.
I didn’t leave the table inside the 3121 yesterday. No way!!
People only had to open the door and you could feel it so I can’t imagine sitting out in it!
But as for the game David King put it into context on Whatelys radio program. Our pressure was off the charts and it’s setting us apart, led by none other than Jack.. Graham that is (the number one pressure player in the AFL over the last 5 weeks).
I still shudder when I think of some of the opinions of this bloke, but at the same time I wasn’t surprised it happened because he was coming basically from a ridiculous level of expectation before he’d even played 10 games.
No first few seasons of green shoots developmental period leniency for this bloke, no sir!
Just makes him probably even that bit more special I reckon.

Come to Canberra Joelsyt. We top up our rain with snow for that unique football experience.

Well then in my book, Sheds needs to play in the forward line, has the knack to setup forward play...the little knock-ons, the deft handball, short kick to space...
Sheds forward play will go a long way to setting up our win...VIP!
And I reckon the weather will play an important part in our Team selections! If dry I would like to see Balta's name mentioned...having him play around the wing would mean the occassional big barrel punt into the forward line for our small forwards to run onto...
Like to see a Cut Lunch Paddock with Dusty as his rover...
If wet rest JR and bring in Moore...

Surely - in no particular order - blokes like BEllis, Short, Baker, Cantstandya are in line before Ross or Graham - even if those mentioned are technically like for like swaps ....

Castagna has been pretty good the last couple of months, gets another chance.

True but dropping Ross or Graham might be problematic
Why the hell would we do that?

George??? The bloke who has kicked more goals for Richmond since the start of 2017 than anyone except Jack and Dusty? The bloke in career-best form? Our second-highest goal-scorer for the year? He ain't goin' anywhere.

Castagna has been pretty good the last couple of months, gets another chance.
Another chance?? He's an automatic selection!

Harsh calls on Chol IMO, has been quiet but all out talls struggled fwd yesterday and the condition's the last 3 weeks dont suit Cholly.

Chol and Bolton will look so much better if we ever play in the sun again

It's more about picking the side for the most effective the ruck combination. With Chol and Nank, we have two ineffective tap ruckmen. With Soldo and one of them, we have one highly effective tap ruckman, and an 'around the ground' specialist. Currently Nank > Chol, so pick Soldo and Nank. I'm not writing Chol off and I'll forgive his last couple of weeks due to the wet, but we would be a far better side with Soldo in and him out.
