You can also add 6 1% and 11 inside 50s

... just so far above everybody else, there are no words.

* Highest on ground along with Tucker who had 7 Cl, 3 from centre ... just a bit of positive trivia for us all.

gutted and frustrated. How many narrow losses we have got this season?

Suns, Bombers, crows, blues, demons and now saints.

Thats all I have to say...
Yes very costly and the difference between suiting up in September and not. It is, however, a nice turnaround from the severe floggings of last year on many occasions, even with 7 or 8 best 22 players available...

NBA teams get in shooting guru’s

The guy still works with NBA players.

Gregg Popovich is 70.

I really can’t see why a goal kicking legend can’t coach set shots.
If we didn't have a problem with kicking accuracy and goal kicking accuracy I wouldn't keep going on about it. Whatever we've been doing since 2015 hasn't been working!

But it feels like most other things with being a Freo supporter that you're banging you're head against a brick wall!

Their best 22 also carries five extra first round picks than our best 22, all players fit and available
Why is that? Have they been hanging around the bottom of the ladder for years perhaps?

Edit: Just seen the reply about one more thing that the eagles have been better than us with. And we let them pick up Brady Grey while we gave three year contracts to Coyler and Conca last year. Still doing it!

Anyone see Fyfe’s stats for the game?
35 possessions
19 pressure acts
608m gained
11 inside 50s
2 goals

Anyone know how many of his possessions were contested, and how many clearances?

Those were all the club gave. I say ‘all’, but even without the CP and Cl that is one frickin frighteningly good game. Best player in the game, bar none. Geez I wish he was still 23, and we could get another 4 years on top of what we’ll get from him now. 100% freak of nature.

If he doesn’t get the 3 votes + 10 from the coaches, someone is on the take.
And how pissed off did he look after the game?

I hope we haven't front loaded his contract like Billys and Neale's so some club does't get the idea of going after him as well next year? We need to keep him and Billy and change the coach and Rosich!

Shuey and Darling were priority picks from the AFL. The longevity of Hurn and Kennedy worked out better for them than Morabito and Simpson for us.

Freo could use a priority pick or three but the system is busted for that. Shuey, Darling, Rance, Roughead, Murphy, Dale Thomas, Kruezer - all priority picks.

We could also do with father son picks in the third round that turn out to be guns like Geelong had out of Hawkins... who was the U18s best player but went pick 41 because that's the rule then so Geelong get to pick Selwood at pick 7 too.

Just things like that. The game is quite tight so we need as many selections as we can at the right end of the draft so our depth being tested doesn't start with rookie options.

It'll be a miracle if we ever get a flag maybe he should leave, it was sad to see pav retire without 1. Ffs we look very far away, and this was the first game Ross even looked like he cared.

Not all players have issues with free throws but the NBA do get in specialist shooting coaches for certain players.

I would love for Robertson to work with Darcy, and Fyfe on set shots.

Except those obvious and very public displays of happiness shared with players after the game while everyone was on the field.

I know it's not how you meant but I still feel obliged to say that throwing a round ball 7.2m is vastly different to kicking an oval shaped ball 55m, even if we write off the work prior to the shot as being equal.

Anyone see the vision of Blakely loose checking Stevens at the end?
Same story as Carlton..

Love the bloke, but he doesn’t seem like a smart player

Ross said in an interview since that our stoppage play has probably cost us 8-12 premiership points this season. Nice to think there's a fix to gain so much.

Some player availability would fix that. Throw in Taberner and Pearce alone for the Carlton & Saints game and we have those wins covered.

GC game at the start was the other midfield nightmare game

He’s a footballer and a natural midfielder. Does struggle at times as a close checking backman though. It’s a wonder we continually play him there really.

Probably because we don’t have our running backs available atm. Wilson and SHill being injured.

Also, in the Carlton game he was playing mid. He let Murphy get fat and goal side rather than starting on that side and pushing him to the boundary.

I think it's a bit of a unfair comparison when one player was/is battling mental health issues and the other was physical issues.

You missed the point.

Regardless of the reason for the condition, both players are talented and if played will contribute regardless of their fitness level.

We had Bennell more fit than Steven was on Sunday but we chose not to play him because he didn’t pass our S & C guidelines.

A three quarters fit Bennell will always be a better option than a fully fit Schultz. And that’s no disrespect to Schultz but Bennell is that talented. It’s just stupid that we didn’t do that. And I’m sure that some of our coaches would’ve realised that but our club allows our SS guru to have too much say in our football dept. It’s just crazy and we’ve seen the results over the years with our poor soft tissue and leg and feet injuries but we still allow it to happen.

I believe the most successful clubs have realised this was happening and have ratcheted back the influence and say that the SS people have in the management of the players in training and especially on match day. We seem to be late to the party again.

Maybe he needs to learn some accountability. It’s sure cost us a few times. I’m hoping it’s just fitness but I’m not sure.

Just watched the piece that "On The Couch" did on us last night. Geezus that backline is inexperienced. The stuff they said about Blakely is concerning, he seems to be a bit lazy at times. I thought he had a stinker anyway but the comparison to the Murphy goal was staggering.

If we were the 3rd youngest team taking on the 15th youngest team that is staggering. No Hogan, Pearce, Taberner, Wilson, S.Hill, Lobb and Ryan is a killer. Add in Ryan, Wilson and Pearce into that backline and we win that in a canter, even without a proper forward line.

Another wasted season.

Should have beaten Gold Coast, Carlton, St Kilda, Essendon and Melbourne and been well and truly in finals. If we lose B.Hill & Langdon this trade period stick a fork in us for 2020. I'll still be paying my membership and watching every game but holy hell we need to get our senior players on the park.

Not sure being "a natural midfielder" is an excuse for that. TBF I didn't think the Steven one was that bad, but that's the first time I saw the footage of the Murphy goal and that was god awful laziness made worse by being the last minute of a one kick game.

He's not a defenders a-hole tbh, poor 1v1 under a high ball and slack with his opponents.

We should have crossed him off as a defender/mid long ago, the derby probably should have been the nail in that coffin.

Yeah Ross likes his dual position players but if it's not gonna happen with someone why force the issue.

He's shown he can be a decent clearance midfielder, can do a bit of inside/outside so that's where he needs to play. Maybe even stay lean and work on his speed to look at a wing position if Hill and Langdon go, but his position next season should be purely inside or outside midfielder he can not play defence.

I consider putting in golf, free throws and set shots in the AFL very similar due to the nature of them.

It’s about routine, technique and mental mindfulness.

I would be curious to see the results of a $500,000 prize pool for a goal kicking competition during the grand final half time. If it was strictly your entire job to do nothing but kick goals from any and all angles and distances, without any running so fatigue is removed - what the accuracy for those professionals would be.

It might need to be worth more but you get the idea, someone can make their entire living by kicking set shots between the goal line and 60m out. What would those people be kicking at percentage wise. A true professional set shot kick.

I'd expect 80%+. But when the prize money is on the line I'd expect that to drop.

If we had a system like soccer where anyone could take a free kick it would be game breaking. We could have contested marks who never practice and then one player on the team who takes all the set shots.

Goal kicking accuracy has tanked with the inclusion of fatigue increasing measures designed to slow the play down and reduce congestion. I'd be curious to know if we can experiment on the level of fine motor control that drops away with fatigue. I've said previously that when I'm doing a shuttle run I stop being able to count so I wouldn't be surprised if subtle control during a set shot is impacted, unconsciously, by our players being more fatigued.

Blakely is a ball winning mid. Its just stubborness and stupidity that we persist with players in the wrong position.
Barlow as a HFF FFS, still makes my blood boil thinking about it.

Blakely & Cerra should both be playing as pure midfielders, who cares if they need to learn how to be accountable? Just tell them to go and win the footy.
Yeah yeah I know it doesn't work that way these days, everyone has be accountable yada yada, I'm just having a vent.
