There are a only a few on this board that have absolutely no time for Ellis. Some criticise him for the occasional lack of 100% commitment, some recognise and accept that is human nature and that that is the nature of some footballers. But most here recognise that he is a good footballer who does most things to a reasonable level, after all he has played 170+ games. Some like me think that there will be a line of players queuing for his position next year, a few of them with pretty high upsides, and that he will be in stiff competition for a game next year. We are after all one of the best teams in the league. There are others like you he see him as a wonderful player.Interesting to look at the players who average fewer tackles than Ellis per game.
In this order, Rioli, Houli, Sheds, Dusty, Balta, Grimes, Broad, Garth, Short, Astbury last on the list.
Obviously there's a reason they all have lower tackle counts, so it amuses me for some reason Ellis is constantly signaled out.
But the main premise of this thread now is do you pay 'overs' for him over a 3 year contract. Even you might concede that he might do better going to a team where he will get paid what he is worth and be played every week without the pressure that he is possibly feeling.
