That may be the justification, however state law has over ruled canon law for at least since Henry 11 / Becket who essentially were arguing over whether members of the church could be tried for crimes such as murder and rape.

That may sound like old news but laws are built on history and parliament makes the laws so the church should be looking for ways to ensure those who commit these acts are handed over for their day in court.

Never worked at the Catholic Church. But I am partial to a bit of tasteful pr0n. Nothing too rough.

Well Pell did that. Handed over 70 odd files to the cops. Cops didn’t act then denied they’d been given the files. Pell proved Ashton was a liar. Investigation into Pell opened inside a couple of months.

Surely, surely the Lawyer X stuff must be showing some sort of pattern here.

FMD, you mean the 1950s and 1960s when the church and its stooges spent every effort and used dirty trick they could to thwart the will of the people in Australia through the use of its DLP front organisation and backroom blackmail of the tory governments.
Not to mention the church's outrageous support for the slaughter in Vietnam (including the sacrifice of Australians not even old enough to vote) in order to protect their friends in the corrupt catholic dictatorship.
Catholics with any sense of human decency would stay very quiet and steal silently away when their church's actions here in the 1950s/1960s are mentioned.
