Any idea what we are paying for Martin? GC will demand a first rounder I think. He is not worth that.

If we can add Crouch and Cogs I think we fix our midfield. Our biggest issue is lack of players consistently getting 25+ possessions.

A fit Harry and Charlie look out.

Would be glorious if Gil's meddling nudged Coniglio into our waiting arms - if I was a top 10 player in the comp, I'd be a bit miffed if the CEO was trying to publicly influence which team I played for, clearly on the basis of commercial viability of particular clubs rather than any care for the individual.

Do it Steve, come to Carlton and flip Gil the bird as you walk by :D

If i'm not mistake that's actually LESS than what we were offering Shiel...would be an amazing get.

Coniglio is a better player AND would cost no draft picks, vs Essendon giving up 2 x 1st rounders.
If we land Conigs, the Shiel miss would be a massive sliding doors, blessing in disguise moment.

Media reported we were offfering much higher than we were. I think one of 10cp, B70, or MS3 said as much. Whispered our offer was sub $1M.

Just caught up with a good mate from Sydney.

Some info:

Giants keen on Darcy Cameron but his preference is Melbourne and Carlton. Been the case for a while now. Friends with crippa and has been guaranteed good opportunity

Jack Martin is so excited to possibily join us. Interest from Dogs and Saints. Upto SOS and co to pay what suns want. Levi may be the circuit breaker

Cogs still a genuine 50/50
Some think his leaving, some thinking he stays. Loves his ambassador role

Same mate who gave me the 4 for 1 deal in 2016, Jaksch and tutt also Kennedy couple of seasons back. I respect his intel

PS: Sydney traffic stinks

Still so hard to have any confidence in the Coniglio situation. Both our ITKs and Hawthorn's ITKs are super duper confident he's come to their respective clubs.
Yeah, but are the Hawforn ITKs actually ITKs or just more arrogant supporters assuming they get all the cakes and eat them too?

Cogs + Crouch + Martin = one of the kids probably gets squeezed sometime soon. Purely on opportunity.

Walsh, Cripps, Setterfield
Kreuzer, Crouch, Coniglio

Murphy, Curnow, Martin, SPS, Fisher, Dow, O'Brien, Stocker, Gibbons, Kennedy.

That's a lot of midfielders who'd be understandably miffed if they were missing out on selection.

I hope they look to develop LOB in defence. The rest, there a heap of factors at play.

Murphy - has a 1-2 left
Curnow - 2-3 years left
Dow - struggling here. Crouch and Coniglio make it more difficult for midfield time. Do we look to develop him as a DeGoey type forward?
SPS - huge promise as a defender, and Daisy’s departure might entrench him in our defensive system
Martin - is he a forward/mid or a mid/forward?
Stocker - again, unclear line of development. Promising as either a defender or inside mid
Gibbons - good signs but not sure of his ceiling. Has surprising aptitude as a forward
Kennedy - think he’ll be pushed out long-term. Doesn’t have the smarts of some of our inside mids, and down the pecking order as a mid-sized forward

If there's no Papley this year, I wouldn't be surprised it it's Adelaide's pick for Martin and change.

Wouldn't be surprised if we come away from the deal with a late first or early second rounder.

Free agent Coniglio.
10 and 40 for Martin and 17.
17 for Crouch.
46 for Gray and change.
Change for Cameron.

There's the 5 acquisitions that have been floated.

Always the possibility we do something with future picks instead/as well, possibly to get back into the draft.

This was PM'd to me and the poster would like to remain anonymous:-

Papely - No chance 2 x 1 st round draft picks.
Grundy - Zero Chance.
Cameron (Darcy) - Locked In.
Martin - Locked In.
These two above will happen VERY early in the trade week.
Cogs - more and more likely still a bit to play out.
B Crouch - 65% there, for Carlton the final decision will be made by Russell and his confidence to get his body right.

Would be very pleased re Cameron. We HAVE to start planning for life post Kreuze and an 18yo won’t be on the right timeline

I doubt GC would get a 7 spot upgrade and pick 40 for Martin. To me that is totally unacceptable if I am the Suns. I think maybe our firsth next year with a third coming back? I wouldn't pay that but I think they will ask it. Though perhaps Martin is so on the nose they just want him gone. We can hope.

WOuld the Crows take 17 for Crouch? I would have thought they would want a top 10 pick.

I don't mind trading out of this draft. It is supposed to be average.

Matt has no impact with disposals tho
People said that about Rockliff when at Brisbane and about Mitchell at the Hawks but personally it doesn't bother me. An accumulators job is to win first possession and give it to a more damaging player. We have enough damaging X factor types in SPS, MM and to an extent Murphy and hopefully Cunningham to make a heavy possession player very useful.

Cas in the Martin deal is making too much sense, even with Cas being FA

We won't get anything for him as FA if we land the rabbit, but we play nice with GC knowing that cas would stay if we offer him a reasonable deal.
