and the problem is not so much the number of changes but the quality of the replacements. Andrew Day is listed as a 'Non Executive Director' . Does that mean Day does not get a vote and is simply there as a China consultant? ...
I don't know of any of our board members that aren't non-executive directors.

Why would a board member not have a vote? What would be the point?

They could be an invited expert on a specialty topic.

These aren't questions that he should be asked nor expected to answer.
Actually they are.

However, when in this position I have never tackled people in public, if possible, preferring one on one. Particularly so when KT seems "a good bloke" and possibly just doing his job as we all have to sometimes. But we don't get the chance to ask the tough questions.

Maybe taking on board what the members are saying, really listening to us supposed whingers, might be a good start to prevent us voting with our feet.

The board need people with deep pockets and great business experience not us true believers or ex players. Although having a global sports coach succes on the board makes sense and potentially one ex player but other than that we need deep pockets and great corporate connections.
I cant work out when KT is accountable. Ken takes the heat for on field and Kochie takes the credit or not for offield.

Which is exactly why our Board has made some of the stupid decisions they have made. Where was the business acumen when they reappointed a Coach with middling results twelve months before his contract had expired? Where was their business acumen when they broke with 149 years of tradition, a move that could only alienate those true believers who you do not want anywhere near the Boardroom. We have all these connections on our current Board yet we struggle to find a major sponsors. We look to have got there eventually but it was a struggle. As for the deep pockets how much of their personal fortunes do you think current Board members contribute to Club finances. Businessmen do not always make good leaders, you only have to look at the US to see that.

We need financial, business and legal expertise and connections for sure but we also need to find smart people who know something about Australian Rules Football. Look at the current Board and you will not find many who had any prior experience at running a sporting club let alone an AFL club. Then again we don't need to find anyone as the Members no longer have a say.

Agreed, KT took personal ownership of many of the club's issues with his recent email, which I interpreted as him inviting numerous questions at his `talking footy' seminar, including any about the coach, his contract, his game plan etc, etc.

Ownership is a good start, but means nothing unless they are fixed. So far only playing a decent forward line forced on Hinkley had been done. And yet to have any confidence that as soon as a loss he won’t still be allowed to drop a tall forward as per every other time.

All great points raptalia, no argument from me.

I hope we both agree that we need great leaders on the board, not ego centric ex players, not ego centric real estate sales people and not ego centric local business people who want 15 minutes of fame

When i say deep pockets, people who have money and will give to the club. Not ones who don’t give to the club.

Derwayne started his show saying he hopes to get Koch on later this week.

Then said he had hoped to get KT on last Wednesday, then last Thursday, but couldn't make it and now he is off to China and unavailable.

So is he off for a few days, or a week or more and will miss the shit show from the fall out next Sunday when we miss the finals again??

Lockhart Road is he coming via HK to get some tips on riot control tactics?

I’m shocked ... absolutely shocked ... shocked that DuhWayne didn’t grasp the opportunity to start a rumour that the CEO travelled with a large empty suitcase for Mr. Gui to fill with a cash advance for 2020 that will be used to pay out Hinkley.

Why else would the CEO be in China at this critical time of the football year?

But, then, DuhWayne has just announced that he has inside information that Hinkley will still be at Alberton in 2020, and that’s probably enough rumour for one day.

The rumour also has our CEO travelling alone.

And flying by elephant ... but, then, there is an elephant in every rumour.

Last week he was supposed to be on the radio circuit but pulled out late and hasn't been heard from since might be in the port river.

He's gone all Colonel Walter E Kurtz in a cave somewhere up the Nung River in Cambodia.
