The Suzuka 8 Hours is on today and it has been entertaining. After 5 and a half hours, the top 3 are covered by 3 seconds and all 3 are on different marques (Kawasaki, Yamaha, Honda).

For Australia, Josh Hook's team is coming 4th and Broc Parkes is 6th.

So what was the penalty?
I read on FB that 1 got 30 secs and the other got 15

Not sure who got which , i assume Ruggier ( Hertz car ) got the 30

Night 1 Dirt Derby at Eldora Wednesday 31/7. The NASCAR trucks ran in 2 x 30 minute practice sessions plus a number of qualifying type hotlap sessions. The other cars racing were the big blocks which were the loudest cars I’ve ever heard. The feature race for the evening was the 100 lap big block race. The NASCAR trucks run tonight in a 150 lap feature.
The trucks are about 3 seconds a lap (19 - 20 sec/lap) slower than the big blocks and they look like they’re skating on ice in the turns. Lots of spins in turn 3 during practice sessions.
Eldora is an amazing venue in the middle of nowhere. There are no signs directing you to the venue and without a satnav you wouldn’t be able to find it. The merchandise is really cheap with t-shirts going between $10 - $20, the food and drink prices are ridiculously cheap compared to how we get fleeced in Oz. Beer is $2, coke $1, burgers $3 - $4, spirits $3 a shot or $4 with a mixer. Here’s some photos from last night, I’ll add more next week from Knoxville at the Nationals.

Yes, as mentioned we’re doing the Nationals (410s) at Knoxville starting Wednesday and finishing on the Saturday night. We visited Bloomington Speedway yesterday while driving from Louisville to Indianapolis. Today we’re going to the ‘Brickyard’ to visit the museum (there’s vintage race cars running today). Also visiting the Terre Haute track on the way to St Louis.

Knoxville will be great with 6 Aussie drivers nominated. James McFadden won the 360 Nationals last night at Knoxville and the Madsen boys are based at Knox so hopefully we can get a couple of the lads in the A main on Saturday night. Will post more pics from there and provide updates.

Heading to Oskaloosa Fairgrounds tonight for the $20,000 Front Row Challenge featuring most of the WoO teams. Not originally on my schedule but when you’re already booked to stay in the same town you’d be crazy not to go. Will post a wrap of the event sometime tomorrow.

Osky Front Row Challenge report - Monday 5/8.
A great night of racing featured 305 and 410 sprint cars. 31 teams entered the FRC with Darren Pittman running away from the field and claiming the $20k on offer. The 30 lap A Main had one yellow which incidentally happened on the first lap. There were 5 Aussies racing - James McFadden, Ian Madsen, Marcus Dumsney, Andrew Schuerle, and Rusty Hickman. Madsen finished 7th with McFadden finishing 10th. Dumsney finished 15th after starting in P23. Pittman was never challenged and those chasing like Larson and Eliason needed a yellow to get restart to bunch the field.

The Osky track is an absolute belter with a 1/2 mile of rich, black dirt. The track was prepared before the start and not touched again by the track crew. The best thing about the place is they let everyone out on the track during the trophy presentation and you can be within touching distance of the driver and his machine.

Wade Aunger was heavily involved in calling the racing and called all the 305 racing, he also did all the driver interviews and was well received by fans in the stands. Here’s some pics from last night.

The onboard racing footage available to us these days is incredible and unimaginable (to me) not many years ago. It's hard to think of what the next step could be in the near future.

Knoxville Nationals after 2 nights of qualifying 16 drivers have advanced to the A Main on Saturday night, only 1 Aussie has made it so far that being Ian Madsen. James McFadden came 2nd in the A Main on the 1st night of qualifying, however he didn’t score enough points over the course of the night to be top 16 overall, he’ll need to perform well tonight to advance (which will most likely happen as he has a great car and is in good form at the track). The other Aussies are going to struggle to get into the A Main, Brooke Tatnell and Kerry Madsen appear the only chances, although Brooke had a stinker in last nights A Main.
Of the big names Dave Gravel and Brad Sweet were 1 & 2 in last nights feature and were clearly the best two on the night, both will be up near the front on Saturday night. Donny Schatz struggled with engine problems on Wednesday night and will need to be up near the front in everything he does to make the A Main. There are another 16 places available with about 80 cars vying for those spots.
Lance Dewease is staying at our hotel in West Des Moines and his cars are worked on and set up in the car park.
Some pics from night 1 & 2 in Knoxville.

Speedway GP is at the halfway point of the season. Amazingly, there is a 3 way tie for the title lead between Emil Sayfutdinov, Bartosz Zmarzlik and Leon Madsen on 61 points apiece. Martin Vaculik closely follows in fourth place, only 2 points behind and Patryk Dudek is well in the hunt, sitting fifth and 6 points off the lead.

Jason Doyle is ninth in the standings and filling in for Greg Hancock is young Aussie Max Fricke in an impressive twelfth in the title despite not racing all the rounds.
