SVT. Ablation procedure, defect from birth.
I have that condition. I'd get dirty looks in the emergency waiting room when I'd casually stroll in, have a brief chat with the nurse, and whooshka straight in.

Little did onlookers know my heart rate was going at 250 million beats a second.

They refused to operate on me until I quit the booze. I quit the booze, and then they all concurred I no longer required surgery 'LOL sucked in, tricked you into giving up one of the great pleasures in life.'

Bastards!

That's weird about the booze, I didn't think there was any trigger for SVT although I was told to avoid energy drinks which I never touch anyway. They taking the piss out of you, literally!

The procedure was supposedly a failure due to complications and extra muscle around the offending extra nerve but it feels like it was a success. I was in the theatre an extra hour and there was a lot more burning than promised, they even told me to stop breathing a few times to try and get at it.
Getting ectopic beats more regularly but not one has turned into an SVT episode. Success in my opinion.

In my case alcohol triggered the episodes. I was ok while I was pissed, the hangover was the problem.

I'm very susceptible when I'm dehydrated and run down. A bad hangover means I'm sitting there expecting every palpitation to send the ticker into orbit.

I had 4 trips to emergency in total, and the last one the 12 mg felt like cement was running down my legs and trying to pop out the soles of my feet as it was drying.

s**t that sounds serious!
My only issue was with prolonged episodes, associated issues with drop in blood pressure, feeling woosy, etc. Presented to ER 4 times, including the first time where they recorded the SVT and the second time where the paramedic missed my vein 4 times before he managed to get a line in. I've got good veins, dammit.

Either way take care, good to hear you're not getting the episodes anymore.

Can anyone recommend a good 5 day (Mon - Fri) split that possibly incorporates HIIT with the kettlebells?

Reason I ask is because I'm getting back to work soon and nothing gets me more up and about than a solid hour in the gym at 6am every morning.

In the past I've done 3 day Push-Pull-Legs, regular 4 day splits, and 3 day full body workouts. All are ok but bringing kettlebells into the middle of it has me slightly worried about overtraining.

Question. When lifting, when can you declare a weight lifted your PB? After 1 rep?

Bodybuilder: "OMG uleh i did 400 lbs for 5 reps on decline bench. All the campaigners in the gym were standing around fulli staring."

Bodybuilder Brah: "Sick! You do realise we are on the metric system yeah?"

Powerlifter: "My 1 rep max on deadlift is 500lbs"

Question - thoughts on lying leg curl vs standing leg curl? Gym recently got massively upgraded and now we have both.

For some reason (I didn’t think this was possible ever) but the standing leg curl hits my calves a little (potentially too much, if my enormous calves feel engaged) but I like the range of motion. I find the lying leg curl okay, but too fiddly for drop sets and the feeling a bit strange when single leg drop setting (bloody technogym).

Interested to know if one hits the hammies better?

The answer is Romanian deadlifts.

I find lying curls allow a better negative contraction on the muscle.

My gym has a hammer strength plate loaded lying leg curl. It's one of those iso laterals which separates each leg and makes it harder to control on the way down than it's pin loaded mate next door.

I also like the leg curl to warm up the legs/knees for quad work.

We have the Hammer kneeling leg curl. Not a fan. I can't get into it in a meaningful way, and it just feels like junk volume at the end of a workout.

Comes down to personal choice mate. If I had to take one to a deserted island I'd choose the lying leg curl.

And those of us genetically challenged in the lower leg region don't want to hear about your enormous calves thank you.

I can see why swimming is popular. Less stress on the body, more fun than a tread mill.

I truly tune out while in the pool- only thing im really concentrating on is counting the laps (i ******* hate it when i lose count)- unlike when in the gym always thinking about stuff usually.

So true. you got focus when swimming. Counting laps, the stroke and most importantly not drowning!

Wish i could do butterfly- that is actually really fun to do (can manage like 3 of them in a row lol).
My go to is freestyle, if im in the mood backstroke, sometimes just some kicking with a kick board or side stroke.

Hate breaststroke

Butterfly is rewarding when done. A real aggressive stroke i reckon. But god so tiring!

Id start with freestyle, then as I tire move into breaststroke, then just treading water. If i have to make a dash for the pool edge from there, doggy style

i must admit i had to google them
The resistance helps build strength but more importantly they improve technique, the exaggerated catch with the surface area against the water emphasises where you should be putting and angling the hands through the stroke.
Also if you don't cheat by only using the front strap they will actually wobble or want to fly off on someone with a crap stroke.
