Bancroft is a walking wicket with that technique. Neither deserve a place in the side, i would rather open with Khawaja. What's the worst than he can do? make 5-15? Smith moves up to 3.

this. I can think of a dozen West Indies batsmen from the last 15 years probably who would be worse

The little bits I've seemed of Zac Crawley he seems technically sound.

I was a) surprised he only averages 30 in FC cricket and b) surprised England would call up a specialist batsmen with a batting average so low. I haven't seen him play loads, but there must be a reason why his FC performances have been so underwhelming - almost certainly it's going to be a concentration issue.

From what I've seen in the county system over here, their batting is in even worse shape than ours.
