Ok so Abit more in regards to Martin
Both player and manager made it clear we are his preferance but they are exploring other clubs. (Wb only basically, but won't know much until there season is over)

Offer is on the table. He takes it or can chase more $$ elsewere

Darcy Cameron will be done late

This is from a source with an undeniable track record

I like that approach.

Cheers for the update, mate. Love the stance the club is taking here. Not that I overly care about us paying him $600k or $750k, but sends a strong message and if he really wants to play with us - he'll be much more respected from day one. Might tell us a bit about what he's made of, too - intentions clear as day.

Also just on SEN Martin's preference is the Blues but we're not offering as much as others.

- a year and a half younger - don’t get your point. Age isn’t an issue here, talent is. Talia wins hands down.
- more versatile - really, why would you move one of the best back men of the last 10 years. Levi is versatile because he can’t hold down a specific role. Best mark in league, but brings few more tricks. Move Talia forward and I guarantee he kicks goals. No comparison.
- I’d take Talia (for big coin) over most of our bigs if it came to that. There’s a reason why he’s an AA player.
- everyone wants quality for cents on the dollar. Of course he’s going to cost, he’s one of the Top 10 KPP in the game.
The point is we have enough talented talls in the positions Talia plays and Levi is the perfect fill in (forward, back and ruck) when we have injuries to those positions. Talent is definitely an issue but so is age, and so is the draft picks we would have to use to acquire Talia.
We really do have specific needs we are trying to address in this draft but we may not be able to do that if we use crucial draft picks for him.

From the HUN Trade Update piece re Ellis, take it FWIW.

BRANDON ELLIS (Richmond)

The soon-to-be restricted free agent is keen to secure a better deal after eight seasons at Punt Road. Carlton were interested in bringing Ellis to Ikon Park, but have since changed their mind, while Ellis is now also keen on other options. Gold Coast and St Kilda have been linked to the 26-year-old, but another Melbourne-based finalist has just started showing interest.

The Adelaide connection to Teague netted McGovern, his understanding of the Crouch brothers would influence any potential trade of either one, Talia may help to assist Weitering and perhaps more regularly play (or if Levi goes) Tomlinson will once again be seriously looked at too.

With Jack Martin keen and Tom Papley expensive but a need and target, the financial position we are in will allow those to happen (not at any cost though). 2 out of 3 ain’t bad, the hidden Magpie- Grundy would be for another year. Wines would be good but as a captain and with little to offer in trading that might stay on the grapevine.

Surely Port would prefer to part ways with Polish-Pecker than Wines?

Let’s try to shake Jay Caldwel loose from GWS.

Can rule out key position players, we don't need them. Recruiting Talia would be a waste of picks/players.

Put a line through anyone who is a poor kick.

We need a midfielder who can play in the center and get big possession numbers but if they can't run and don't apply pressure I can't see us going there. With the team we have we need to add an accumulator to our center group who can run. There is no spot in there for someone slow.

Forward line needs a player who has elite pace. We don't have anyone there who can close quickly on the ball/player. We have guys there who are ok pace wise but we don't have that elite pace. Must come with a desire to tackle and ability to kick goals.

Might be tricky to find the players we need.

Brad Crouch is a great get accumulator wise but questions over kicking and perhaps leg speed are the issue there, then again he is still best 22 and would strengthen our midfield.

Midfield is short one elite full package mid, Coniglio would have been the ideal type but he's no longer an option. Midfield is also short an outside runner who can regularly find the footy and can compete physically. We have some light body oungsters who don't perform against the better sides. They are either too light and won't get there or they will, who knows at this stage but a sure thing would be good. Hill would have filled this role.

Forward line lacks elite pace and pressure with good kicking. Gibbons has been good but hasn't got elite pace nor is a damaging kick going inside 50. Perhaps Martin fills a role here.

We have a lot of work to do so hopefully we can get some of the players we need to get better and then at the end of next year we can finish off the job. I feel that 3rd last finish hasn't done us many favors but we will see. Rome wasn't built in a day and neither will our next premiership team.

Don’t assume the leak came from the CFC

Where else would it come from? Jack Martin telling a few mates that when SOS wanted to show him the trophy cabinet at Carlton, he was just like "Nah, bro, I'd rather meet your accountant, feel me?".

Jack Martin interviews with SOS - there's only two parties who could leak the details of the discussion. You've suggested it wasn't Carlton, but what possible reason could Martin have to do so?
