What's grating people about KT is that he seemed incredibly genuine when he started here, and navigated us through a few tough moments with a lot of grace and care.

Now he legitimately sounds like he doesn't believe what he's saying. That's his tone. That's how he comes across. As a liar. A someone who can't and won't show the members the respect of being honest with them. There's no honesty from him though, it's all expectation management spin. That letter made it sound like he was actually going to take some responsibility moving forward, but no, we're back on the spin as hard as ever.

And ultimately, a liar might be the better option for him. To come out less than 24 hours after the season ended, awarding it a pass mark and declaring that we're on the right path, if he's not a liar, he's incompetent.

Nah. He sounds like a guy who does believe what he's saying, but knows that people are angry and won't like it - so he comes across as timid and disingenuous. It's more a pleading tone.

No one has given the season a pass mark. It's been acknowledged as a failure. It is possible to establish growth through failure though.

Then he needs to ask why and modify his delivery. Why are people angry with what i'm saying? How can I get across what I need to get across without people getting angry?

It's embarrassing how everyone at the club has to dance around the elephant in the room that is, that if Ken Hinkley didn't have a contract, he'd be gone.

Is it that hard to say that we demand better and that everyone at the club is on notice instead of wheeling out "we think we're in a good spot going forward"? The language is important and the language is always always always expectation management from this administration except when Kochie comes out from time to time and ad libs.

It's absolutely possible to establish growth through failure if you can identify why you've failed. We've had multiple players and coaches come out this year and say they aren't really sure why we're so inconsistent. Alarm bells should be going off everywhere.
 
We are stuck with Hinkley, publicly stating he sucks and we wish he wasn’t here isn’t going to help get the best out of players or the coaching group.

I’d assume our hands are tied and we are playing it political and sucking it up.

Behind the scenes I’m sure he’s vomiting in his waste basket he jumped at that big contract on the soul destroying elimination final loss. I dream of a top 4 finish, ahhh one day

This is why I find it hard to judge KT.

He is obviously parroting what he has been told to say by the board.

Now if you said KT should quit in protest at the shir sandwich be is being forced to enact then I would be inclined to agree.

KT might still feel he is the best man to help Port survive (not thrive) in spite of the board.

I talk to KT often. He is always accentuating the positives, eliminating the negatives and not messing with Mr in-between. He is backing Ken in 100% because he believed in him 100% back in 2017. He wrote that letter backing him 100% a few weeks ago. He went to China when he did and was still backing him after the trip.

I mean no offence REH, but unless you're secretly a member of the PAFC board (in which case get off your lazy arse and sack Ken), KT talking to you as a supporter of the club is still 'publicly'. He's not gonna go on radio and talk about how everything is going smoothly only to shit-talk Ken in conversations with individual supporters, is he?

I often wonder if anyone calling KT names etc. etc. have ever spoken to him.
I have, several times, and I believe he is a passionate Port man.

Just remember, we all make mistakes, and, given the opportunity, we correct them. :thumbsu:

Listen to the tone of his voice and context of his words. There is no wavering. Look at the board vote on Friday.

Compare that to Mark Haysman talking about Choco, we knew Haysman didn't want Choco re-signed in mid 2009.
 
I just feel that the message could be a little bit more Port Adelaide and a little bit less treating us like mushrooms.

Telling us the morning after the season finishes that we're on the right path is insulting. It's akin to the way you smile at a toddler and tell them everything is fine after they've fallen over and skinned their knee, because if show any concern they'll cry. We're not toddlers, Keith. Be genuine with us.

I disagree with this entirely. I feel like he's gotten less and less genuine in his time here and some of his recent stuff sounds to me like someone who knows what he's saying is bullshit and will go down like a lead balloon.

He is struggling to sell the message, because he has nothing to really hang his hat on, which is why he is foolish to have backed in Ken 100%. Maybe he is backing in stability 100% more than Ken, but that defacto means he is backing in Ken 100%.

KT, Koch and the board members who have been there since 2012 - Osborne, Theile, Vanstone, Restas and Cardone - are all in. Ranson and Wanganeen wouldn't be rocking the boat. Andrew Day has been on the board for 6-8 weeks. You wouldn't expect him to take a radically different position yet. Darren Cahill is the voice of reason on the board. Understands elite sports and isn't a mate and only been on the board for 9 months.


"We're a long way from where we want to be ultimately but I think our trajectory is good… the landscape is significantly different as we end 2019 than it was when we ended 2018 and Ken has to take a lot of credit for that.

"If we think he needs more time, we will extend it. But right now, it's can we foresee a Ken Hinkley-run football program delivering a premiership model? Absolutely."
