It changes day to day. Ticketmaster have ****ed it up big time.

I dont see 8000 tickets being sold for the GWS match between now and Saturday.
The ground is supposed to hold 24,000 so 20,000 could be tops.

Getting more than that eagles semi was my only wish in terms of a crowd for this game.

Surely that estimated attendance would be based on ticket sales/MCC interest, without factoring in things like the weather/time of day/only Melb final this weekend.

The match will sell out, and if you've bought tickets then you're going to turn up. That will account for 85,000 patrons.

The other 15k will depend on the MCC and yes the rain will probably keep a few away, but Collingwood are the 2nd biggest group in there and its the only game so it will probably even out.

Unless it’s a Grand Final or Richmond knockout final, there’s bound to be a decent amount of ticket-buying no shows.

I'm sure there is but they aren't Giants fans.

We are growing the game not converting fans from their original clubs.

If everyone in Western Sydney who likes AFL ditched their clib and joined us we would be selling the place out every week with people left outside. But they didn't.

Interesting happenings in South East Queensland...

At the same time the Lions sold out their Qualifying Final within an hour of public release the Broncos hosted the Parramatta Eels in a defacto Elimination Final in the Friday Night lights (the Eels in many ways are pretty much the Tigers of the NRL)

The Eels are one of the biggest clubs in the NRL, perfect storm etc.

Nonetheless with cheap tickets and promotions, the Broncos drew just over 33,000 (a similar game 5 years ago probably draws 40,000)

Something is happening in South East Queensland, for the first time in 15 years the power balance is starting to shift back to the Lions.

Like the Swans in the NSW market (sorry Giant fans) the Lions are the premier brand Australian Football brand in the Queensland market. The Suns are a bit of a sideshow, and probably won’t have the reach and impact in SEQ that the Lions have.

In order to drive significant grassroots and commercial growth the Lions have a great opportunity to reassert it’s position in the 3rd largest market in Australia

Let's hope there is a power shift of sorts and let's also hope the next time the Lions "bottom out", the "bottom" is not as deep and for as long.
