I’ll be watching the NFL this week which will take my attention away from St Kilda but really how long do we need to wait.

I’m getting old watching this crap, why is it always St Kilda who have a cunning plan that sounds ok but never comes off. Did we really need to tell the world Carlisle and Bruce were on the table after the last game. Did we need a numbskull VP liking a derogatory tweet about Carlisle.

I agree in principle. Who, in your opinion, is the most important trade?

The one that gets us the best low teens pick to offer Freo.
The second most important trade is then whatever we’re doing with #5, so we no longer have it to offer Freo, we only have that best low teens pick.
This is known as the Dodoro Gambit.

If you don’t think Brad Hill in for Josh Bruce (would effectively be a swap of picks) is a good move you’re blind.

Bruce doesn’t play if Max is ready for round 1. Can’t have King Bruce Membrey potentially Battle in the same forward 6.

And Hill solves a need for speed and foot skills.

Love Bruce for his heart and soul approach. But at 28 next year I’m happy to move him on so he can play finals and we can get a player to move us toward finals.

I still hate the idea of trading Bruce. All it does is weaken our non-existence key forward depth.
Going into the season with King, Membrey and a ruckman as our only options up forward is not good.

Mayo, and we'll get Biggy too.

This is obviously false. Pies have no money to move with Grundy, Moore and De Goey all out on contract next year while Dogs have all their Tim Boyd cash to spend.

Arguably the best young midfield core with the likes of Dunkley, bontempelli, smith and macrae
Have one of the best up and coming
ruckman in English and talls in Naughton and even Schache starting to look good
And now they are gonna poach one of our best players in bruce. My god look at what they have done with dale in the second half of the season ( he kicked a far few in his last 10 games). He’s decent but u give someone like Bruce that service and with his marking ability he will probably return to that 50 goal a season star forward

Meanwhile we are going to trade out our best forward(Bruce), best defender(carlisle), best midfielder(Steven) take our one shining star(Marshall) and apparently convert him into a more forward dominant player who partly rucks and we don’t even have 3 consistent ball winners in our midfield....

Not trying to be pessimistic was just reminiscing to the good times after watching that last two minutes on afl web clip where we pipped the cats at the death in the 2010 finals series and comparing to now where we have fallen so far

watching the state champs the WA team won this year but in all honesty it was one of the weaker WA teams ive seen so i was pretty shocked to see them take it out ... that to me says a lot about the talent in this years draft ...

The best thing Bruce has done this year is improve parts of his rucking by taking the ball out of the ruck, which has been a good tactic for him.

When it comes to trading you sell high. If King comes in next year Bruce may well be in the seconds, at which point his value will drop massively. Makes total sense to trade him now if Pies and Dogs are offering high picks.

Paddy played what, 3 good games where he showed a bit? Suggesting if he was fit he’d have overtaken Bruce flies in the face of the evidence we saw. If he wasn’t taken at #1 I doubt he would have had as many games as he had. He was always a work in progress but he never came close to looking as capable as Bruce.
