That is a solid argument for his inclusion.
There is also this as a perfectly valid counter.
Whilst he has improved over the years and isn't too bad he is hardly a great gloveman either.

have we ever had a keeper , make it to the test team as a pure batsman other than wade , after initially being a keeper (rather than a batsman come keeper)?
we'd be hard pressed to find one as no aussie keeper averaged 30+ until gilchrist came along.

Steady on. We're 1 test into a long series, he's avg 50 now so far, good start but too early to make a definite conclusion
Conclusion? The discussion was that he deserved a chance and wasn't getting it. Not saying he is the best thing since sliced bread but the bloke deserved his chance at the back end of the Australian summer and certainly in the World Cup.
He has brought that form to England with a fantastic hundred. Yes he has made some look stupid, more specifically whoever chose Handscomb over Wade in the WC semi.

This guy makes me pine for Shaun Marsh. Hack of the highest order. This surely is the last test he plays for Australia - ever. His technique is just pure garbage.

Harris,Warner,Head and Wade people have suggested to drop for the next test.They all will not go as there is only Bancroft,Khawaja and perhaps M.Marsh to bring in from this squad.Would say Warner and Head are safe but a lot depends on what they do in the 2nd innings and the result of this game.

Full credit to Matthew Wade for getting himself back into a position where he was able to be selected as a batsmen in test cricket. Did everything that was asked of him. He’s just not quite at that next level. Also unlucky that when he finally did get picked , it’s in England in a series dominated by the ball. He did make a century as well.
Have a feeling his spot will go to Mitch Marsh for the next test and that will probably be the end of him as a test cricketer.

Was the right selection. Seems to have tightened up ala his last stint in the team.
