I just don’t see how we’re still not at a point where we can sign off on something like the following:

• Never claim to be the Magpies in any AFL competition (League, Reserves, or otherwise). All rights to the emblem at SANFL level reserved.

• Never wear the prisonbar against Collingwood under any circumstance. Home, away, finals or otherwise.

• Never wear the prisonbar in games played outside South Australia.

• Reserve the right to wear the prisonbar in home games at a time of our choosing to a maximum of 2? 5? times per year.

Put a 10 or 20 year expiry on that to be revisited in future if and when the AFL finally grows up and steps into the 21st Century.
I guess it’s a confusing aspect of where we are. We took terms like a kid bring offered candy, then as time goes on it’s more hang on what about ....

Great work Rick.

Has the club got any ideas/plans for fan engagement outside game day? Have they considered drawing back the curtain and letting us have a peek? Ie let us in on some draft discussions, training set ups etc.

I’m keen to hear his take on the rift between fans and the club. Do they feel it or has this purely been driven by poor crowds and membership renewal?

What is the club doing in the off season to make itself better? What about individuals - leadership courses, training etc?

Why haven’t we succeeded over the past 5 years? What’s the club’s take on this?

Have we seen an appreciable change since burgess left?

Ken Hinkley, his coaching career seems to have the momentum of a runaway freight train.
Why is he so popular?

Why are the club’s decisions so baffling?

- KT sending out that email
- our decline in our media/website quality and engagement
- lack of a women’s team
- taking Sutcliffe at the mid season draft
- not using the option of putting watts out for the season so we could select another at the MSD
- The dual captains
- keeping Ken
- Ken’s contract structure so we might have to sack a coach in our 150th year
- letting the club go so off the boil that we may need major change - coach, CEO, president and board, in our 150th

With the SMA killing off the game day village, is there any plans in the future for a replacement at the tennis centre or similar?
Have we heard any more about this since the SMA denied having anything to so with it dying?

Thanks Rick and appreciate that he is willing to come on.

I would like to know what is the threshold for poor performance at the club and who ultimately pays the price and when?. On and off field.

If membership goes down (again) and engagement is down (again) which gm is responsible for that and what consequences might they have for not meeting kpi's.

Also we get that they know we are unhappy but do they get why. Why does he think we are unhappy?.

Following on from that what is his response to the Gerard rant that we are not that team etc?. In his opinion are Port fans stuck in the past and need to be more accepting of struggles in the big league? (Not my thoughts but wanting to know where he sits).

Not his area but who is responsible for dumbing down the Fin reports and releasing them when we did and will it happen again this year.

What does he think of moving towards more member involvement in the club ala moving from afl to member control. Allied to that what does he think of the ideas re member control over certain non negotiable items

What is the one decision he has made over the last five years that he would change.

What is his favourite Port Adeliade memory in the last twelve months, five years, of all time?.

Keith mentioned there would be lots of announcements coming soon to make us all feel better and the replies from the membership team to my recent auto renew cancellation alluded to the same. When are we going to get some good news from the club? God knows we deserve something.

I wouldn’t mind some honest feedback about the handling of the co captain announcement and how it was slowly leaked out to us firstly through the media and then finally a club announcement to the members and supporters to soften the blow.

Hopefully the club is now aware this approach is the wrong way to do things and might be more respectful towards us.

Hrrumphh. I just noticed my first post in this thread finished with the word "nudes". Bloody mobile SMS spell check. Was supposed to be "buses" 😡 Oh well!

Be that as it may, but the original question is still a valid question to ask.

Ditto.

Any chance of re establishing a credible Game Day Village? If not is there any chance of doing a deal with a pub in the CBD so Port members can get drink and food at a reasonable price?

Can he tell us why the marketing/game day activations teams, need to commercialise everything so much, and make it so known.

Why is there an intro to NGI? The song has an intro, that was what made it great, you hear that soft build up and by the time you're up the song has built and we're all clapping. Now it's weird, we all get up because of this stupid intro and start clapping out of sync and standing around waiting for the build up. Just cut the *in intro.

Why do we need to call out on run sheets the time of NTUA. Just Why? Have we done it at different times other than 1 minute before the bounce? That i have missed? Just tell us when the game starts, and let the organic nature of that song take over. "Get those scarves up Power fans" was the absolute height of the garbage. Let the fans do it the way we always did, organically.

* I could keep going on, but they've made all these bits and pieces of game day feel like chores, and scheduled boxes to tick off rather than things the fans drove to show their passion.

What is the timeframe for reducing debt to a level that allows the members to regain control of the club?
What matchday attendance is required to start reducing debt - 45,000?

My gripes:
  • The clubs decisions being made in the AFL's interest rather than ours.
  • The sugar coating and obfuscation we receive from our own media.
It's time for the club to stop treating its members like fools.

This interview is very important, I'm prepared to draw a line under previous mistakes and start again as long as we don't repeat those same mistakes.

I’m with you on this.

Listing NTUA as an event on a run sheet is forcing it. make it too contrived and supporters will drop it quicker than you can say “auto erotic asphyxiation”

It’s like the club is being run by a Christian community group; everything is structured so there is no room for interpretation or spontaneity. Can’t have rogue “power fans” doing what they like at the football, can we.

2 questions about the expectations in 3 years time. Not potential expectations but 'budgeted' expectations once the current plan delivers. Assuming, and expecting, that we are working towards a plan and not making it up as we go.

1. Where does the club expect us to be on the ladder in 3 years time?

2. What does the club expect the China experiment to have contributed to our financial bottom line in 3 years time?

If the club doesn't know the answers then what is the board doing?

Thanks for the invitation, Rick. My questions to Matthew:

  1. Do you acknowledge and accept that the overriding reason for a decline in attendance and membership is directly linked to on-field performance of the team, and by association, the senior coach?
  2. Do people at the club believe that unless on-field performance significantly improves in 2020, attendance and membership will continue to decline, regardless on any events or "extras" the club may include in membership packages or on game day?
  3. Why, despite the 8th highest attendances in the AFL and more than 60,000 members, do we still fail to make a profit?
  4. Recently, in regard to the "Prison Bar" guernsey, an agreement, made in 2007 was referenced. Was it signed and if it was, who signed it?
  5. What is the biggest hinderance to wearing the "Prison Bar" guernsey whenever the club chooses? Is it the views of our own Board, the AFL or Collingwood Football Club?
  6. If you had to choose 3 identifying factors, most intrinsic to the Port Adelaide Football Club what are they?

Will the club interact genuinely with it's members, without spin or bullshit, and take on board what we say? Or are we just there to be cash cows.

4 and 5 are key.

Also is the agreement on paper.

Can we see it (or are least get the exact wording)

If not, why not.
