Of course. But GWS won the right to host the game in their home state.
They won the right to host the game on their home ground. The AFL's talk of maximising attendance it utter bullshit.

As for beetroot head, he suffers from relevance deprivation. Has to make a headline every week to satisfy his huge ego. Loves to hand it out but has a glass jaw when it comes to return fire.

The AFL should demand Collingwood has an away strip like every other team. McLaughlin and his acolytes are as weak as piss.

Same reason you're not playing at Ballarat or Launceston. It's a small regional venue and not suitable for hosting major events such as AFL Finals.

Pretty obvious troll....a day off and dont come back.

Geelong needs to separate from Melbourne and play all home games in a Geelong, away games in Melb and out of Victoria. Home finals will be in a Geelong no matter the home state crap. Pies, Bombers etc will have to travel down the highway.

Issue is Geelong won’t do this. Can’t expect to demand home finals if we still play home games at MCG.

Who cares about crowd numbers if this comp is supposed to be fair.

We've been trying to demand 11 home games for years haven't we? We've just been given the games at the MCG and not much we can do about it.

They should just boycott any home game at the MCG. Just tell the opposition that we're happy to play them but they have to meet us kardinia and if not we take the forfeit. AFL is happy to have zero integrity behind closed doors but if it's out in the open they'll respond. A team like Collingwood or Richmond or Hawthorn won't refuse to meet a side away under media scrutiny, and the rest of the comp won't stand for a powerhouse side taking 4 points without working for it.

The AFL have their favourite sides and that is clear to see. No wonder they get all their support. If this continues we will always be handicapped and the game is a farce.

No away jumper is a joke. It happens in NO other sport. Let the AFL answer this??Why do they not respond in a public forum.

As for home finals, gorget it. We have no hope.

A lop sided competition that is simply driven by $. A FARCE of a game.

Nice idea but the backlash wouldn’t be worth it

The AFL would just tell the media to attack us and create a new narrative about how “selfish” we are and fine us into oblivion

The AFL has too much power and we would get zero support from either the media or the other clubs.

I just wish that the likes of Eddie McGuire/Brian Taylor would acknowledge that playing at the MCG advantaged Collingwood (and their supporters) and disadvantaged Geelong and our supporters.

If you consider that the bulk of the Geelong’s Victorian based supporters live in the greater Geelong/Bellarine area, and it’s harder to get to Melbourne on a ‘work’ night - a Friday MCG schedule is a double disadvantage.

Supply and demand. Giants Stadium didn't sell out today so why play it at a larger stadium? It's a lot different to Victoria where you'd be preventing 30-50k fans from attending.

Well I guess they should’ve played this game: https://www.google.com.au/amp/s/amp...rough-fa-cup-fourth-round-replay-match-report

At Middlesborough’s home ground. After all about 30,000 people missed out! Middlesborough’s ground can hold 30,000 +, Newport County can only hold 7,000. Don’t worry that it was Newport County’s home game, best move it so the fans can all fit in!

Oh, hang on. Looks like common sense prevails over in England and the home team gets hosting rights regardless of how many fans the place can hold. Why does it work over there and not here?

I wish the game was played at GMHBA there would be posts a mile long from Geelong supporters that they could not get in even though being a member. As they have to give a percentage to opposition supporters
There would be a fair few disappointed fans yes but there would also be a much stronger business case to expand capacity. A few angry fans turns into a new stand pretty quickly if they're paying cash. That's the end game here

We should have worn white shorts and Collingwood black. Problem solved. That was the main issue imo

They should have worn their traditional Collingwood top ..no black on back .. Its THEY who have created the issue by changing their jumper..

Even the geelong footy club would not go with your reason. Why bother to be a member of the club if you got to pay cash say you miss the finals you be broke in a few years. They rely on the membership as it money up front .I like your idea about paying as you go .

You're investing in today. For a club like Geelong our memberships are capped by seating more than anything. Don't waste time getting a couple of extra ticket sales today when you could be a 80k member club before you know it

You may as well ask ardent vegan activists to admit that eating protein has some beneficial aspect to it ..

Today has been a day full of so much propaganda

1. Frank Costa you have no right to comment on the match committee when you tell men to tell their wives to buy them blueberries.
2. Scott was not the only person on the selection committee. Rhys was dropped weeks ago as he simply was not up to it. We are all now pretending we left out a grundy. We left out an average ruck, and were hopeful of blitz contributing in the ruck, he didnt. But the players didnt get us to number one spot by themselves with no help, and then the coach loses the first final.
Get a grip

HOME GROUND
There is no home state rule, it is clearly home ground. As soon as the AFL signs off on a ground and allows a team to have a ground for a home ground then they should have the advantage of the ground. Our pathetic finals record is partly due to Geelong playing their home finals at the opposition teams ground. This is a clear disadvantage when looking at a level playing field. In an era of rights and equality, the AFL are simply piss poor on this. If the capacity at GMHBA is an issue then the ground should not host any games. Or we should be offered to play the game at a neutral ground. Ie SCG against the pies and tigers. There needs to be an advantage, otherwise the MCG tenants are clearly advantaged time and time again.
This coupled with the fact the tigers played 7 games at the G in a row.

We need to thank our coaches for putting us in a great spot with an average list despite the AFL agendas.

Time to speak up, and highlight the wrong with the AFL.

The AFL can avoid this, but allowing all clubs 6 games at the G pre finals, and all other games are played elsewhere. Remove the advantage and give all clubs an equal chance of winning.

All other spots can manage this, except the AFL.

HOME TEAMS

AFL, lets be clear and set the agenda. On your agenda highlight the benefits available to home teams. Ie coin toss, end, change rooms, tops, etc etc eetc
and then enforce it
The league does not need to compromise because of recalcitrant presidents.

There needs to be equality.

Time for the bullshit to end.

And before the crowd figured for this Friday night are released. Ticket prices for Firday night are less than some home and away games for prime spots.
Serious joke.

Drafts Picks

So Adelaide forced us to trade for Patrick. Yet the one club that could not afford to lose Lynch lets him walk with no fight. WTF
The premiership favourites land a number 1 recruit with no exodus, or equilisation.

Seriously an even playing field needs to exist, and these clubs either stand on their own two feet, or exit. The AFL needs to end this bullshit, with subsidy after subsidy.
