I am highly critical of some of Dow's work, but at no stage have doubted what he can/will ultimately bring, His ceiling is as high as any player in our team.
I firmly believe that Dow both prospered and was the most disadvantaged by the blind faith and stubborn perseverance Bolts had in the kids at the coalface. It would be exceptionally hard for a youngster to understand the body of work, and the two way efforts required to be a gun player at the highest level when he is an automatic selection week after week, being preferred to some match hardened stars of the game in the engine room.

I am really hoping someone can get through to the kid and rid any thoughts of entitlement, making him a gun next season and beyond, rather than waiting six seasons for him to catch up to his potential, or heaven forbid, not reach it.
Coona, I think that's a bit of over thinking it. Teague mostly persisted too. Dow hasn't had a preseason yet. Restricted training first year and injury recovery for at least half of last season's. Reckon his drop off mentally during games is often down to fitness. Plus a bit more maturing and strength to add.

As we look to go forward in 2020, and assess the finals so far this year are there any warnings for us . . .

Did Brisbane show the dangers of rising too high too early? Would 5th and a win be better than 2nd and a possible straight sets exit?

Did Geelong show the dangers of topping up a list for home and away success but not with finals X factor potential?

Did Essendon show that nailing sought-after free agents but not drafting particularly well only goes so far?

Exactly, been so pathetic for most of week ferris is no longer behind.
Not good enough, everyone.

I have caught up on so much of this thread.

We missed out on Shiel but we got Setters instead!

Would Tomlinson be a free agent or is a trade necessary..........because it struck me that part of the story behind going for Ellis was that he was a free agent.......would love to know who SOS has fallen in love with to turn around and call off the bromance with Ellis........ tears flowing uncontrollably!!!

Yep, Tomlinson is a FA and may be a victim of the next salary cap squeeze up at GWS.
Could return to the side in place of Deledio for their next final.

Interesting, Sam McClure, who you would imagine has connections at the Club, seems confident Papley will end up at Carlton (today's Age)...

Carlton’s No.1 target is Papley. Intriguingly, Sydney told the media that he was contracted for the next four years last week. That will make it harder, but expect the Blues to get their man late in the trade period.

I love Tomlinson and always have since I saw his ball use.

Could fill a few roles as required. He’s 193 and very very mobile . Could be excellent cover for Doc.

Are you talking about the Northern Knights zone?

Its a very large pool, with lots of growth areas and a wide range of nationalities. I just hope its around long enough for us to see some benefit.

I would not be shocked if Martin chose the Dogs. They seem like a good fit for him and if the money is on the table who could blame him? I genuinely think this is a 50/50 one and am not quite sure how it will turn out. If Papley is off the cards we much offer a bit more coin. If we can get Papley, which I think is unlikely, then he is Bulldogs bound. Will be interesting to watch how this one played out.

On Tomlinson, I dont see why we wouldn't put an offer for him. I acknowledge he is not a world beater but he is a more than handy footballer who can play multiple positions. I think he could make a solid contribution especially if we get some injuries in the forward or back line. He is a free hit so might as well stock up on AFL quality footballers which he clearly is
