Each year, leading into week 2 of the finals, the footy commentators and pundits overestimate the EF winners, and underestimate the QF losers. Already they’ve written us and Brisbane off, and are talking up a Collingwood/Richmond GF.
Last night, Richmond lost every stat except the one that counts, their phenomenal accuracy demoralised Brisbane, I can’t see them being that lucky/skilful again.

They won't be but they'll still beat us.

WC should beat them.

From late in the second quarter until early in the last Richmond absolutely smashed Brisbane. Not entirely convinced it was due to luck. Seeing as they've now beaten them twice in their last two games. Away too, where they apparently can't play.

The only lessons to learn out of these finals is that winners good, losers bad. These two are entirely unrelated and simply exist as independent, irrefutable events for David King to build models that assign more worth to a certain possession depending on which teams earn them.

or we could have won the QF.... instead we choked on it. Get what we deserve at this point.

GO Catters
Well this way:
1) We don't have a bye so don't have to worry about jumped in a elimination setting
2) we would have to play Richmond in the GF so a prelim is no big difference
3) if we manage to get to the GF we'd play a collingwood without Greenwood and potentially degoey.

Chris Scott coming in with 300 iq plays.

GWS could lose their very best finals player in Toby Green, allegedly eye gouging the Bont.
Not much care factor in that game next Saturday, I guess, but that is a massive out for them- bigger than when they lost SJ.
Mummy was very lucky he didn't lose his head several times yesterday- they certainly were on the edge.

He really is a grub. Big talent, but bigger campaigner.
Agree. If he had the brain to just focus on what he should do on the ground, he'd be a superstar. This stuff will hound him always.
Not sure what Q it was, but they were so dominant yesterday. Just so unnecessary. What a tool.

A prelim is a much bigger difference for a few reasons.

Their fans can all get in.
They'd have one foot in the door of a GF spot before the match even started.
We haven't won a prelim in a longgggggg time (for Geelong standards)

A GF meeting against Richmond would be more balanced and anything can happen from there.

Apparently we should be completely fine playing "home" finals at the oppositions home ground with home crowd advantage...
And when the figurehead of the club is asked about the issue he should lie and deflect rather than give a measured an honest answer.
