I’ll be absolutely crushed if we don’t get Bruce. He might be the best player (who isn’t 30 +) we have traded in, certainly in my 26 years on this planet.

I’d much prefer Shai Bolton to Martin and I’d be disappointed if we missed Keath.

That being said I think we have plenty of money and options being thrown around. So if we do miss Keath maybe someone like Dougal Howard could be a target.

How are people actually having a go that Martin didn’t choose us? It’s not a big name player, he’s a mediocre small forward who hasn’t shown anything, we aren’t the only club players are saying no to, it is a constant throughout every club, the all mighty hawthorn haven’t landed there “big fish” yet again, do you think they will go into panics, I highly doubt it.
I just think it’s strange that a player would choose Carlton after struggling being at another rabble for half a dozen years. He obviously needs to be in a better set-up if he’s to prosper and you’d think his manager/anyone giving him decent advice would’ve told him as much especially if our offer was that good.

I suspect now, Carlton were the only ones with a decent offer to begin with.

Remember he also turned down Essendon last year, Carlton definitely through the biggest offer. We wouldn’t of thrown ourselves at him like they did an that’s probably what peeked his interest, in how desperate they were. Not a type player that we are in need of, I wouldn’t be losing sleep over it.

He wanted Essendon but they couldn’t do the trade due to Shiel.

I’ve seen Dougal Howard mentioned a few times. Are they just passing references, or is he a viable target? I thought he’s a KPD, but has kicked a few goals. Anyone know his status?

Agree and I think if anything we were in the “we’ll take you if you somehow fall into the right price category.”

He wanted the cash/better deal and good luck to him.

ALEX KEATH
Keath is asking for as much as $600,000 over four years, which Adelaide won’t be paying. So everything points to a move that will likely land him at the Dogs. It’s plenty of cash to spend but it rounds out their backline with Zaine Cordy and Easton Wood having plenty of fuel left in the tank.

JOSH BRUCE
On his way to the Western Bulldogs if they can strike a suitable deal with St Kilda for the strong-marking forward. The Dogs want another target inside 50m and the Saints need to make room for Max King. A second-round pick could clinch the move. The Dogs are prepared to offer a three or four year deal to get Bruce over the line.

I’ve watched Tex Walker live 3 times this year and although I’m not advocating we go after him he gets absolutely zero help from his teammates.

He constantly leads and then turns back and then leads until he can’t go anymore and they hardly ever reward his effort. He works his ass off for very little return in that team.

The biggest negative is he has the turning circle of the titanic BUT there is no way he would have allowed the Giants to bitch us like they did on the weekend.

IF Naughton is to miss alot of next year he wouldn’t be a bad short term option if everyone else turns us down
Reckon Tex would rather retire than play for us. No body likes us, everybody hates us, think we should sack Power, a few coaches and kick a chocolate Labrador whilst we are at it.

Stoked about the Martin news. Did not want, and not in a getting rejected and acting like you weren't interested kind of way. Not a fan of his at all.
Also stoked about the promising Bruce news. Since his name was mentioned he's been my most preferred target. Would love to get him.
Hopefully we do get Keath as well.

We have no indigenous players, it's a huge factor in attracting indigenous talent.

Not at all. This is interesting.

What’s the knock on Taylor these days? Doesn’t tackle enough?
Can get 25 possessions a game with 8m gained, biggest sideways mover of the ball since Crabby McCrab captained the Crabbitons to the Crab Cup at Crabbington University, Crabsville.

So the state of play seems to be that both Bruce and Keath are looking much more likely than not and we should have around $500-600k left over to find a skillfull outside mid/small forward?

Barring any late challenges from bigger clubs, that would be a good position.

I wouldn't hate it if we used up 12 and 30 on Bruce and Keath and got back a 2020 2nd & 3rd/4th rounder.

Having a couple of late throws at the stumps this year and strengthening our hand for next year should leave our list looking really strong
