Gary Rohan to replace Tom Hawkins and give Grimes a bath. Cam Guthrie to dominate Dusty in the middle while Tom Stewart makes the Richmond forward line his bitch again.
Lol, Rohan to give Grimes a bath. The only way that could happen if it was an actual bubble bath.

Hawkins can't lead because of the back injury he suffered in the St.kilda game that has been kept quiet. That plays into Richmond's hands.

Ratugolea, Dangerfield and Taylor are more mobile and force one of one defense which makes us more dangerous. With Hawkins teams know they can play an extra defender on him because he is generally our only target going forward. We're too Hawkins focused at times. When one one one he's the most dangerous forward in the comp but our system in the last half of the year hasn't really suited him anyway. Now we're more unpredictable and have more options. It makes it hard for Richmond to double team now and gives us more aerial prowess.

Richmond is one side Hawkins can afford to miss against because your midfield isn't as strong as the other contenders. Against Collingwood or GWS we need Danger in the middle.
Hawkins 4 contested marks and 4 goals shows how much of a game breaker he can be. Do you honestly think Henderson or Ratugolea will be more threatening than if Hawkins was playing? And how on earth does it affect the double team?

You said "You sound like a Brisbane supporter pumping up Charlie Cameron"

I didn't mention Charlie Cameron though - thanks for your reply but please stay on topic.

Doubling down on your comprehension issues....

Wow.

This game will be more Geelong centric too given Richmond can't cheat their way to Geelong allocation this year.

Yet your allocation still went public...

So even with all us cheating scum buying in the cats seats, no cats member missed out

Once again, cats fans sooking over nothing

If anyone is interested to see how the cats can win friday night, watch the Rd12 game from this year.

When richmond got on a roll, the cats limited their scoring, no cheapie out the back in the goal square goals
When Geelong got on a roll, they became an unstoppable beast. 7 goals in the 2nd and 8 goals in the 3rd. Tigers scored 5 in total.

Was a bit wet that night too from memory...

How have Geelong performed post bye?

True but Reiwoldt, Nankervis, Lambert, Astbury, Broad and Ellis all didn't play. All best 22 players.

Richmond fans went home at half time that night.

Richmond has a few out that night too.

This game will must tougher.

Huge mismatch in defence with Astbury + Broad out and Hawkins in. Riewoldt out also affected our ability to hit up targets in the forward line. We had the forward 50 entries but could not find decent positions to score.

I’d be surprised if that happens again because we are more efficient than 12 scoring shots in 52 entries nowadays and are much better defensively than pre-bye

Crowd split 58k Tigers 36k Cats?
There won't be that many cats fans there. They got a just over a third of the ticketing allocation.
It will end up being something probably like 60K Tigers, 25K Cats, 10K Neutrals.
Not too mention we're a bit more louder and more feral than cats fans are on average.

Is there an excuse that Richmond supporters haven't brought up in this thread yet?

What a strange comment that a few posters keep trotting out.

If you peanuts think the result 12 weeks ago has any bearing on this Friday night, you seriously have no clue.

If you dont think 8 player changes since then will improve us, then you have no clue.

Does it mean we will win? Of course not, but it is 100% relevant to the tigers being confident.

How many players out? I didn't catch you the first few times, give it to me again.

Joffa said cats fans are the most feral.

I guess he does not look in the mirror much :moustache: .

You had 15 premiership players plus Tom Lynch, Stack, Soldo, Higgins and Baker
Lynch was just going at that stage of the season, now he is in good nick. Stack has a couple of games under his belt, as did Baker and Soldo, both have improved a lot since. Higgins was nowhere near as good as last year.

Game will be won and lost in the midfield. Richmond will have the edge in the ruck. Both sides have good midfields in form. Geelong's medium/small forward are all class, Richmond's tall forwards are better, although Jack is still struggling with form.

The finals have gone to plan so far. The sides that have been better for longer rise for the finals. Geelong's form dipped a bit in the last half of the year, but they found it when they needed to, last week. Richmond have been building and are in good form and possibly have another level. Even contest for mine.

After reading these comments it seems the Tigers are as confident this week as they were leading into last year’s prelim........You beauty 😊😊
Nope - Much much more
Thankfully, neither of you are playing!!
So how do Geelong beat Richmond everyone wonders? Well it’s no surprise that Richmond are an elite side when rebounding and creating an impressive transition inside 50. Geelong could start by playing a defensive forward (Dahlhaus) on Nick Vlaustin who is averaging about 5 a game. Clearly Vlaustin is one mover that needs to be arrested to help Geelong prevent Richmond rolling away.

Bacher Houli is also ranked very high for uncontested possessions. What is he doing? Getting too much space? Reading the play all too well? If he can get that much of the ball clearly he is getting too dangerous, so whoever his direct opponent is probably needs to stay tighter to goal and keep him away from the flanks. I know it’s all about zoning these days, but it’s obvious he is linking up exceptionally.

Dion Prestia is also getting dangerous for Richmond. Lots of tackles, lots of contested touches. Between him and Martin the Cats have their work cut out. I think Geelong’s best bet is to not tag either but try and let Dangerfield get off the chain so Richmond have to worry about him. It may even be best to play Selwood as a defensive midfielder.

Hawkins absence will hurt Geelong, but Esava ranks high for contested marks so it’s a no brainer he plays close to goal. Stanley rucks all night.

In order for Geelong to win I think Rohan, Dahlhaus, Stewart and Stanley all need to be in the best. It might even be worth putting Taylor up forward to help Esava. Chris Scott will have to really strategically nut this one out.
Good summary, you should be coaching Melbourne!

Tiges lost that game and the following week against the Crows going into the bye with severely restricted sides.
A few players probably could have played, but the extra time off gearing up for the second half was priority. It was a gamble but obviously woked.
Against the Cats, Richmond was 2 years younger and 35 games less in experience. Similar to the Crows thefollowing week.

Using r12 as a gauge with this PF is completely pointless. The team lineup comparrison clearly shows that.

Out - Naish (debuted against the Cats r12) Stack, Higgins, Garthwait, Butler, Townsend, McIntosh

In - Reiwoldt, Astbury, Lambert, Nankervis, Broad, Short and Bolton.

Clearly superior Ins

Yeah, rd12 happened! You can take it to the bank that it wont happen again though. 😼 One thing our boys are very good at is learning from their mistakes.
Soooooo.....hope your boys are ready to bring it! Because it's gonna be a very different game on Friday night! 😉
